Swindon V Lakeside Thursday 5th May 2016

Recommended Posts

to be fair to AJ, he was on the pace but just got well and truly beaten up in 3 of his rides, Morris and Josh either side of him down the back straight was a blinder of a move, even Sedgy and Josh passing AJ was a sight to see as well.

To be fair, I was impressed by Lawson and Nilsson, even Mear was putting himself about.

Felt sorry for Stef with his last ride, he didn't deserve that at all.

Doyley---- different gravy

Charles--- not outclassed at all, he would have done AJ in heat 1 as well but for lifting

Josh------- always in the mix after changing bikes

Sedgy----- looking a different rider after the Wolves match

Nick-------- putting himself about but not looking that quick

Rohan----- (see Sedgy)

Stefan----- battling away with not much reward, it'll come.

AJ---------- on the gas but well and truly beaten up

Swidders- shocker

Kim-------- looked quick all night

Barnet---- scored what EK would have done so a pretty good night for him

Lewis----- looked aggressive on the bike and completed the meeting, more than he's done on previous occasions at the Abbey

Mear------ in the mix

Kerr------- good to see him back on the bike, got better as the evening went on

Overall a good meeting to watch and the right result for the Abbey faithful.

Thanks to you Swindon fans for giving us what seems to be some pretty fair and unbiased reports. We appreciate that. I wish more people woukd post like that instead of the usual rubbish we get from the likes of Shovlar and a few others that just want to praise their own side and knock the visitors all the time.

Interesting to note orions comment about AJ struggling to get out the gate , it good for those of us that weren't there to get these sort of details. Sounds like AJ was struggling with set ups, yet Kim who often struggles with set ups on away tracks was doing well.

Thanks also to those who mentioned Rob Mear battling well. He was well off the pace at the start of the season, especially away so it seems he might be starting to pull it together.

It must be a good few years since the Hammers went to Swindon and kept the score as close as 10 so from a Lakeside perspective it almost feels like a moral victory. Glad most people seemed to enjoy the match which is the main thing.

I have to say Lakeside really look like they will have a massive say this year wherever they finish. At home they are nearly unbeatable, most teams doing well to keep it to damage Limation and the scores close. To ride the Robins close with A J only scoring 5 says alot Kelvin helping has to be a massive plus done it all a brilliant speedway/Longtrack career.

Also Kelvin must be great to be able to ask for advice and is very astute on the mechanical side as well.

It needed a couple of outstanding rides to stop AJ from picking up a win and a second, which would've made it very interesting. Kim gave chase to Doyle in heat 15 and looked very quick and determined, which was a shock to me on previous form. Bobby Mear was impressive, battled very hard and looked tidier on the bike than Kerr for the most part. Swiderski truly was the epitome of gating tart, had to check it wasn't Klindt in as guest.
