Swindon V Lakeside Thursday 5th May 2016

Recommended Posts

It seems that most of the road works on the A419 from J15 M4 for a couple of mile north of that junction.

Remember that they start at 8pm so will only effect journey home after the meeting.

Really surprised that Eddie did the deal with Lakeside as he isn't getting many rides for them.

It was said at the Lakeside fans forum in February that Ed has 5 fixture clashes in the early part of the season and Rich Lawson would be taking all the rides until then, after that it would be decided on form. Not sure when Ed's fixture clashes are out of the way but woukd think it must be sometime soon.

A419 Northbound stationary queuing traffic. Must be an accident. I know it is early but riders, helpers and some supporters like to get there early some to go for a meal.

Maybe if you know anyone you can let them know.

If I can any further information I will post but if your near there now or on your way home it might be advisable to avoid the A419 Northbound.

Traffic still queuing. The road is partially blocked due to a motorcycle accident near the Rat Trap junction.

Road report at 4.15 - accident cleared and traffic starting to move again.

Would Lakeside be stronger with Kennett riding rather than Lawson.?

Was thinking that myself ..Lawson hopeless at Swindon as a rule ..the trouble is that he has some soft heats tonight so he might score ok

I would've lost a lot of money on Nillson & Lawson being Lakesides top 2 points scorers tonight.

How good is it to have a No 1 who can win races😀.

A good result & well done to all the boys & hope Stefan's bad luck is due to change.

Fair play to Rosco giving him 4 rides as it would've been easy to give Rohan one of his rides.

Enjoyable night ..nice weather a decent crowd and some good racing ....fair play to lakeside who put up a good fight . Doyle done what I thought he would do most this season scoring a max without seeing another rider . felt sorry for Aj from the outside it like he was poor but the guy put in 100 % effort but just could not get out the gate all night .

Mind you when AJ did hit the front he was taken care of with some pretty spectacular riding from JG and Nick

Best move of he match. Both passed him at the same time - one either side. Classic.

LAKESIDE HAMMERS PRESS RELEASE

::::::::::::::::::

LAKESIDE put up another brave fight on their travels before eventually slipping to a 50-40 defeat against Swindon at the Abbey.
The Vortex Hammers battled valiantly throughout and were always in the mix against the Robins before eventually leaving Wiltshire empty handed.
It was a disappointing result for the Purfleet outfit as they gained no reward to show for their determined efforts – but coach Kelvin Tatum was once again encouraged by what he saw from his side.
Said Tatum: “We are a little frustrated in truth, because we competed very strongly and we’ve done that on a few occasions without picking up any points.
“I’m sure if we continue to do that then we’ll start to get our rewards, but right now it feels a little frustrating because we got within two and then it just slipped away from us.
“I’m encouraged by the fact that we have a team that come and race hard wherever they ride, and we’ll be looking to bounce back when we take on Coventry home and away in a couple of weeks.” After a nip-and-tuck start, the Hammers found themselves eight behind and on the back foot after a second consecutive Swindon 5-1 in heat six.
They fought back with Richard Lawson and Lewis Kerr bringing them within two with a maximum of their own in heat nine.
However, the hosts came on strong in the closing stages, with Grand Prix star Jason Doyle striking a faultless 15-point maximum to see them over the line.
Swedish ace Kim Nilsson top scored for the Hammers with a classy display, whilst Richard Lawson bagged paid nine to join him in heat 15.
Reserve duo Robert Mear and Lewis Kerr also put in encouraging displays, but No.1 Andreas Jonsson endured a rare off night as he failed to record a race win.
With Piotr Swiderski also struggling and Lewis Bridger earning little reward for his battling efforts, they were unable to add to their Elite League points tally.
The Arena-Essex Raceway side nonetheless remain top of the Elite League table after an action-packed two days.
They will now face a break of just over a fortnight before travelling to Coventry on Friday, May 20 then hosting the Bees the very next night.
SWINDON 50: Jason Doyle 15, Rohan Tungate 10, Nick Morris 8+1, Justin Sedgmen 7, Josh Grajczonek 6+2, Charles Wright 3+1, Stefan Nielsen 1.
LAKESIDE 40: Kim Nilsson 11+1, Richard Lawson 8+1, Robert Mear 6, Andreas Jonsson 5, Lewis Kerr 4+2, Lewis Bridger 3, Piotr Swiderski 3.
Elite League points: Swindon 3 Lakeside 0

Good meeting and some good action from the robins, especially heat 10 with Nick and Josh getting past AJ at the same time.

Brilliant max from Jason.

Charles started ok but then had bike trouble, a few were testing and looking at his bike after the meeting.

Stefan had bad luck in heat 12 when running a 5-1 with Rohan, with Stefan suffering a blown engine.

Kim Nilsson was the main opposition for Lakeside

Swindon move up the league to 4th position but equal 2nd on points with Poole and Wolves.

Joint 2nd. now for The Roobins...this Doyley bloke can be the next Leigh Adams, should walk the Elite Riders league and can go one better than Leigh did in GPs. Was untouchable last night. Average meeting, average crowd. Why when you put on 2 layers at home you get to The Stade and need an extra 3!

Good tribute to Lee Richardson, almost 4 years since his tragic death, fitting tribute with the road named after him on Blunsdon Mead development.

Robins by 10

Spot on son

10 - 12 point win for the Robins for me.

Only AJ to ruffle the birds feathers tonight.

Nearly, AJ couldn't ruffle his own hair tonight. Lawson and Nilsson pretty good, Swiderski awful apart from 1 heat.
