Perhaps you could comment on a couple of duplicate threads telling us the farthest distance you've ever travelled to a reunion (please include the numbers of the buses from Penge to the venue) Obviously Jon Stevens message which I have posted about the Wimbledon Reunion has not been well received. I will leave it on here overnight, then delete it early on Tuesday morning.

I will leave it on here overnight, then delete it early on Tuesday morning. Could have already deleted it in the time it took you to pointlessly tell everyone you're deleting it. Don't forget to delete the duplicates too I am sure that Wimbledon Speedway Supporters and Jon Stevens will be forever grateful to you for the support you have given them Darcys Onion...and others. I didn't delete the Post earlier because I think many people may like to see the excellent spirit of comradeship that exists in speedway these days. The buses were better in 1948 though. Ellesmere Port actually ;-) 12 to Aldwych, 11 to Victoria, National Express 505 to Chester, F1 to Ellesmere Port. The buses were better in 1948 though. I am leaving this issue in the debate on BSF for the time being Darcys Onion. It perhaps meeds more Wimbledon supporters to read what is happening in regard to the way you regard their reunion to honour, in part, the late great Tommy Jansson. You have chose to attack a thread that tries to publicise a Wimbledon supporters gathering as written in its entirety by its organiser, their former rider Jon Stevens. The only participating role that I have played is to place on the British Speedway Forum - not one word of the message is written by me. Yet, as I appeared in the Post as the sender you have chosen to belittle and ridicule efforts by Wimbledon supporters to hold a gathering later this month. Why did you attack and ridicule the Post. Because "a favourite game" on the BSF is - presumably?- to ensure that any comment appearing under my name must be criticised and where possible I must appear as "the great offender." Had I taken this Post down early this morning, it is unlikely enough Wimbledon supporters would have seen how you apparently want to disrupt their gathering. But I am sure that if it continues on the BSF many will be able to view during the day.

Shame that this post has been ridiculed by a few...I used to enjoy my visits to Plough Lane and particularly remember a meeting when Oxford won an early season League Cup fixture 40-38 after securing three 5-1's out of the last four heats! Great stuff! Never saw the great Tommy Jansson ride there unfortunately. Trouble is that Wimbledon shared the same race night as Oxford back in those days so visits were rare until Oxford changed their race night to Friday (having taken over Hackney's licence). Guest
Thanks Steve for your response and to John for posting this news about the forthcoming reunion. I find it pretty disappointing that someone of Rob's background should choose to belittle the thread, especially given the resonance around 40 years since the death of Tommy Jansson. A much appreciated message prodons. But there are "two players" belittling the Reunion - besides Rob, also "more than active" is Darcys Onion! RobMcCaffery
Thanks Steve for your response and to John for posting this news about the forthcoming reunion. I find it pretty disappointing that someone of Rob's background should choose to belittle the thread, especially given the resonance around 40 years since the death of Tommy Jansson. I'm not belittling the reunion. Surely someone of your extreme gravitas and background should see that. John's postings have become highly unwelcome. I have always given him 'space' in view of his age and past achievements but there is a limit. The constant attempts to deride today's version of the sport and to make reference to how wonderful things were at New Cross in the 1940s were touching for a while but become irritating with excessive repetition. He has consistently spoiled discussions here with, for example the farcical conversations on accessibility to speedway by bus, hence the attempt at satire here. Clearly it was over your head. I should have made it more obvious. The constant references to stock car racing in a speedway forum are also extremely inappropriate. So get off that high horse and stop choosing to see what you want to see. I was taking the mickey out of what has become a rather tedious problem. Of course I am not in any way attempting to diminish the reunion which I am sure will do fine without this forum. I am simply voicing a concern that John's behaviour on this forum is becoming damaging to his own reputation. Perhaps you only read the parts of the forum involving Wimbledon and don't see this? Getting involved with Wimbledon was my biggest error in all my time in the sport and having to deal with the incompetent PR was a significant factor so I am hardly likely to be that concerned by your ill-thought out comments here. My target was the poster, not the event. Surely someone of your erudition could see that? Edited May 3, 2016 by rmc
Guest
Sorry, I wasn't aware of my extreme gravitas and background, and yes my PR could have been better - I can't deny that. I'm glad that you are in favour of the reunion.
The White Knight
I don't Post much on this Forum any more. Reading some of the comments on this Thread merely reinforces my belief that I am right not to do so. There is no need for it....................................................... I wonder who will be first in with a personal attack - I await with interest. I probably won't reply tthough...............................
stevehone
the problem really is the person that started the thread .. I'm sure he'll be pushing for all his 4 wheel driving friends to attend as that's where his priorities lay. I was born in Wimbledon, attended from a very early age, and kept attending until they closed originally in '91, but I'm not interested in any reunion if John Hyam is involved as I don't want to small talk about stock cars
iris123
John Hyam has had many chances and blown them all.His time is up and isn't going to be taken seriously any more on here imo.He posts this a while after trying to bait the Belle Vue fans and trying to bait many others. He who lives by the swords dies by the sword And I guess someone who prides himself on his honesty and integrity, but never takes John Hyam to task or keeps his word of never posting on the forum again is also on shaky ground ....... Good thread, just the wrong person posted it
