Lakeside V Belle Vue - 4 May - Sky Match

Recommended Posts

I thought that but Lemon appears to have not been wrong!

I wondered if it was one of those 'save it for an 8-1' daft decisions, but when Lemon was interviewed he indicated that Worrall was tired out.

Have seen a couple of meetings from Lakeside and they have both been awful, so unless they are against Swindon I do not bother watching them.

not the best of tracks that produce good racing. whereas, wolves, somerset, likely to be worth viewing

I can only go on the comments on updates but they seem to confirm that.

Probably to be expected results wise, though Belle Vue suffered with falls, Cooks retiral and Joe not being dialled in yet. However, good performance from Lakeside and great to see Lawson doing well again. Some very good racing. Worth staying in for.

As a general rule I hate not playing a TR ASAP as if you do get a 4-2 thats it. But when people wait for an "8-1", argh!

That was actually a bloody good and highly enjoyable meeting

A good meeting to be fair not a classic but ok ..as I said people who are not even watching it are making up there minds up it was poor ...I reckon people get upset when the meeting is good and almost want it to be poor .

The meetings at Swindon thus far have been really poor and tonight was far better than any of thou's

I went to Arena twice in the same week whilst on holiday down south.

On the Bank Holiday meeting the track was slick , very little passing and in terms of entertainment it was pathetic ...weather was no threat all day.

4 days later on the Friday , there was plenty of dirt down , the track was watered well and an excellent meeting in terms of entertainment.

Probably a difficult day for track prep - getting water into it on a dry sunny day can't have been easy. Plus we have the possibility of interference from Sky's 'track co-ordinator' (RR) - certainly, the track was not up to the standard we have become used to but some very entertaining racing nevertheless.

Please bear one thing in mind.

As far as I'm aware, 'The Fat (useless) Controller' AKA Ronnie Russell, is the track curator and the one who has total responsibility for calling the shots for SKY's televised meetings. And, from having seen it first hand, he really does rule the roost and dictate what HE wants.

How he can ever be considered even mildly competent to fulfil this duty is, of course, extremely questionable. No doubt 'a nice little earner' from bro 'Tel Boy'. Yes, the same guy who actually removed 'Big Ron' from having any track responsibility at Swindon - by demoting him to simply being in charge of sorting out the drainage problems on the greyhound track a few years since.

Fact remains, having worked at Lakeside for a few years, it would have been utter madness setting up a slick, gaters track given the ability of some Belle Vue riders. From what I witnessed on TV, that track certainly took me back to the days of the aforementioned utter clown; and how he nearly took our club to the point of extinction.

LAKESIDE HAMMERS PRESS RELEASE

::::::::::::::

LAKESIDE went three-points clear at the top of the Elite League with a hard fought 53-39 win over Belle Vue - and boss Jon Cook insists there's more to come from his team.
The Vortex Hammers impressed in front of their own fans and the TV audience with a solid all-round display against a strongly fancied Aces outfit.
And Cook said: "We are riding well and we will be entertainers wherever we go this season.
"We are working with a group of riders we believe will get better but for now we are happy.
"Everyone played their part tonight, Andreas Jonsson was a magnificent No.1 and Lewis Bridger has shown we did the right thing by bringing him back to the sport, even though it was a difficult decision at the time."
Jonsson was the top man with 12+2 and started well with a sweet move to pass Max Fricke in the opener for a 5-1 with Piotr Swiderski.
Steve Worrall was a one-man band for the Manchester men who suffered exclusions for Scott Nicholls, Craig Cool and Richie Worrall early on.
Cook joined Matej Zagar for a 5-1 by going from last to second in Heat 6 - and Zagar won his tactical ride in 10 - but Lakeside were too powerful.
The Vortex Hammers will be looking to keep their impressive form going when they head to Swindon on Thursday (7.30).
LAKESIDE 53: Andreas Jonsson 12+2, Piotr Swiderski 10+1, Richard Lawson 8, Lewis Bridger 7+2, Kim Nilsson 7, Lewis Kerr 5+2, Robert Mear 4+2.
BELLE VUE 39: Steve Worrall 17+1, Matej Zagar 12+1, Scott Nicholls 3, Richie Worrall 3, Craig Cook 2, Max Fricke 2, Joe Jacobs 0.

If it was that bad why did you bother watching it ?

Good question! And one of your more enlightened posts.

If/when (not sure of the current situation?) they do shut that track and, if they actually manage to get another, then tell them to put in a proper sized track with a decent surface.

No more toytown speedway.
