Lakeside V Belle Vue - 4 May - Sky Match

Recommended Posts

So will the track prep be overseen by Mr Russell on behalf of Sky, allowing Gerald Richter to be at Poole?! ;-)

Please no. Don't even joke about it. We've seen what Russell can do with the Lakeside track.

Not sure if Sky will want Kelvin commentating or whether they will get a guest commentator in and let Kelvin do his George Martin role in the pits. Lakeside will be wrong footed with no Gerald and no Kelvin.

Jon Cook will be a reasonable TM if Kelvin is commentating but Big Ron overseeing the track prep doesn't bear thinking about.

Yeah I don't want big Ron anywhere near our track thank you very much, weather will be nice today so that is one favorable thing, a few Lakeside riders notably Lewis Bridger has probably not raced for a couple of weeks, at least Robert had a grass track meet on Monday to keep his eye sort of it.

I seem to remember that part of the announcement of Kelvin joining the Hammers was that the TV work would take priority.

That's true, but sometimes in the past that have had people like Sam Ermolenko ans Chris Louis sitting in so it's possible they might tonight, but certainly it's been made clear that Kelvins media work comes first in the event of a fixture clash.

No weather issues, however, getting moisture in and getting it to stay in can be problematic with this sort of weather set-up...

Warm by day - evaporation

Cool by evening - sucks moisture to the surface

A very happy medium is a tough ask..

No flooding, little and often the way to go... IMHO

2.30pm here where I am in a Dartford postcode (DA8) and has been fine, bright, sunny and warm all day up to now and Mat Office tell us it's going to stay that way so no weather problems for tonight's match it seems. Do as I'm about to do (if you live within travelling distance of the stadium that is), set the record button on Sky and head over to enjoy the meeting live and chat between heats to like minded (even if they don't support your team!) Speedway fans! :)

BRYN

PS: Pity AS can't be there but you'll be back soon mate!)
