Coventry V Swindon 2/5

Recommended Posts

Would be a nonsense to say the riders aren't committed to the cause on tonight's showing. All were trying, they're just not good enough to win meetings consistently at this level.

So where was Kasprzak in his first 3 rides, where was King all night, and how many wins did our reserves contribute?

KK had a couple of crap rides, bomber had a couple of crap rides, king is out of position as we know. The reserves I thought battled pretty hard.

Oh that's it, you're right, it's all utterly, utterly useless. I'm never attending another speedway meeting ever again.

It wasn't too long ago that the bees had riders ringing up asking for team places ( before Horton &co of course).

I bet that phone line is as quiet as the Carlsberg complaints dep't telephone nowadays.

probably.......I reckon hes taken it off the hook!........more nights like tonight, he wont be able to afford the phone bill!!

We all stuck by the club , because we knew that the promotion had the best interests of the fans at heart and things would improve.

The current promotion are just taking the P***.

The current promotion were in charge of the 2013 debacle that I mentioned, so you concede that they are capable of recovering to have good seasons to a degree as they did in 2014/15?

Well that was a bit of a pasting tonight ! Great fightback last week to overhaul the Pirates but cannot help thinking that Poole took their foot of the gas when it was too easy for them at the start of the meeting - this time the Robins did the job right !

For the Bees - we cannot expect two PL second string riders in Josh Bates and James Sarjeant to carry us through until Heat 10 so that our Heat Leaders kick in - especially if they don't earlier in the match a la KK in his first two rides and as for Danny King ! He is just not a heat leader in this company of rider. King and Woryna have to go but only if there are better riders to come in ??? If not, be a long hard season in the race for the Wooden Spoon with Leicester Lions .....

PS : Woryna r/r rides scored paid 9 from 4 - probably better than he would have !!

No doubt the riders were all trying but they are not good enough to compete with the better teams in this years league - you must recognise the facts now Mssrs Horton / Watson surely or are we all wrong ?

I hear what you saying, but people are leaving the stadium miserable...if you leave a theatre miserable do you go back? also have to realise, if/when the bees win, its only going to be by 2 to 4 points, we will never dominate a match, its about reaching the top four, especially this season, going out in a whimper isn't an option imo

Expected result well done to the Robins. Let's see if they can live with the better teams later in the season.

It comes to something when Coventry make Leicester look good.

Besides Harris dreadful all the way thru. Although the reserves scores tonight should have seen the Bees win if the rest were up to the task.

Of course people leave miserable after a loss. I've left the stadium miserable many times over the last 33 years but not as miserable as I'll be when I walk out of that stadium for the last time at the end of the season.

Will support the fighting bee on the terraces until it takes its last buzz, no matter who is running the club. Clearly I'm in a minority.

It's an admirable sentiment, and as an ex Cradley supporter I know what losing a track is like believe me, but I am not just blindly going to offer unequivocal support when it's not deserved, sorry

Horton's take on tonight (bees website)

Coventry promoter Mick Horton said: It was a disappointing performance to say the least but fair play to Swindon, who in my opinion are not a team who are going to make the play-offs.

We just didnt perform. I think the reserves did their jobs, but as for the rest of the team I dont know what the answer is, but its not good enough.

The crowd turn-out again was great, and they deserve more. Riders of the calibre we need are not available, theyve got commitments in other leagues and the Grand Prix, so weve got to decide whether we need to have a fresh outlook on this.

We wont give up, well keep on fighting, but its just really, really frustrating at the moment for everyone.

It's not just about success on the track is it though?

Horton took on a club with a massive amount of respect throughout speedway.

Over the time he has been in control we have seen one PR disaster after another, and his style of management is alien to anything we have encountered in the the history of the club. This year he has alienated a section of his fan base with his admission policy.

He doesn't give me the impression that he has the best interests of the fans at heart.

Bjerre is not the answer either, why are or sights set so damn low, he is another one who is unconvincing!

Isn't he? Who is he answer then? I'd say Bjerre is a top 20 rider in the World, there only a handful of the World top 20 riding in the EL this season (Puk, Doyle, Holder, KK, Zagar) and if you look at last season Polish league averages the only EL rider ahead of him is Puk (by 0.2 of a point) so Bjerre is about as good as it gets.

We're not getting Greg, Woffy, Nicki or Emil so we have to be realistic. Who do you actually think if better than Bjerre? I actually think if Bjerre does sign it makes us a long stronger. We suddenly have a rider at 3 who can score 7-9 a meeting it also mean King drops to 4 where he can score 8 a meeting (its what he averaged at #4 in 2015).

If we do get Bjerre we should have the best top 3 in the EL, probably even the best top 4. Ok we fail at reserve but we've got to make the best of a bad situation now, we can't do anything about the reserve berths but we can try and sign Bjerre.

After watching tonight's shocking performance, I would take Kenneth Bjerre, that said even Lasse Bjerre couldn't do any worse 😂😢

Big crowd though at Wolves, perhaps the Coventry fans particularly the over 60s have found a good team and appreciative promoter for 2016

Interesting you say that as I'm wondering how you can compare the two? One a stadium that can hold over 12,000 spread out all around the track and the other where everyone is squashed in together on the home straight. I'm thinking 500 at Wolverhampton would look a big crowd but I'm obviously wrong so how did you work it out?

yeah, one section wolves claim big crowds if they fill a straight!

Can see a big difference if people are rammed into the home straight (like tonight) at Wolves against a few dotted throughout at Brandon.

Interestingly the Bees official line is a big crowd, yet reports on here are poor.

Someone is lying.
