Belle Vue Vs King's Lynn May 2nd

Recommended Posts

Blimey I thought the drawings should tell you exactly what the track dimensions should be.If the contractors cant do the track to the drawings they aren't very good at their job.

Surely, better to wait and be certain of the track measurements once the fence and airfence were installed. I can't imagine the covers are going to be cheap and the last thing anyone would want would be for the covers not to fit exactly. Wisest course must be to let let the company making them do their own measuring.

Now on Belle Vue website. .

"Due to persistent heavy rain and a poor forecast for tomorrow, Belle Vue's Bank Holiday match against King's Lynn has been postponed"

Didn't see the above posts. A sensible decision rather than leave it until tomorrow.

As the delayed start to the season for the Aces proves, they weren't very god at their job!

Can someone explain how Morton and Gordon are surviving? They have no income from speedway other the the Craven tickets sales until they run a meeting they only have expenses I'm guessing they must now be paying rent on the stadium- just how long can this go on before they are bankrupt?

Once they have a project you should have everything in place from start to finish. From materials, contractors, tools, cost, times dates. This should have been in one of the steps of the project. There is a lot of time and planning that goes into a project like this I would say its just one of those things they forgot to put in.Obviously missing this off has cost Belle Vue this time.

Who do they pay rent to? The people responsible for not completing the stadium on time? Doubt they've parted with a penny in rent yet - and rightly so.

They wont be paying a penny as yet, the project is the council's responsibility so until our first meeting we wont be paying a bean.

Are the covers just big tarps like you can get from b&q or are they bespoke manufactured to fit requiring the manufacturer to take precise measurements of the track?

They are made to measure covers designed by the company that did Wimbledon covers

That's a shame about tomorrow night. You lot will not have it will you. Do you realise how long it will take to put covers down on a track that size PROPERLY ? Clearly you don't. It took us 5 hrs with Sky covers to put them down at Poole PROPERLY, and 4 1/2 to takes the up roll them up and put them back on the van in the pooring rain. Then if the forcast is wrong and you get to the point of taking them back up in plenty of time to let the track breathe, you'll be flogging a dead horse. Even then, go take them up and just put them on the centre green for the meeting to run. Then you will have to roll them up and put them away on another day. But in the first instance, you will need an army of volunteers, and they will do it for a minimum, of entry.

Good luck to you, you'll need it...

We are doing. 3 weeks ago they were being made and that would take 6 weeks. So we are 3 weeks away from having them delivered

Why leave something like this so late surely they should have been first on the shopping list it ain't rocket science that the weather is fairly poor in the north west

You have to despair. Explanations have been given as to why the covers are not yet available and yet people continue to post as if nothing has been said. An experienced and reputable company has been given the contact and understandably wanted to come and measure the track themselves before making the covers. Imagine the comments if the covers arrived, based on the original technical drawings and didn't fit.

There are people on social media making the same silly comments, one is even blaming Belle Vue because the stadium does not have a retractable roof.

On most big building projects there is a penalty clause for the contractors which gets activated if the project is not completed on time, I would guess that the promotors would have one of these the price can vary, I have been involved in projects that have a £30,000 a week penalty clause if they have this sort of thing in place they could be making money instead of losing it

Another early rain off, was it really necessary to call it today?

The rain looks likely to be in and gone by 11:30/12:00 and then Manchester is rain free... Really makes our sport look so bloody unprepared, and unwilling, no wonder we've only got a handful of die hard supporters left, it's never on!!!

So after all the previous at Belle Vue, you think it would be a massive selling point to the Belle Vue punter's for them to watch tractors and bladers do their stuff for a couple of hours just to get a meeting on? Yeh course, that will bring the punter's back. Seriously!!!!

Personally, Belle Vue have made the correct call. They really need to make sure all meetings now run issue free after the start they've had or there'll have much bigger issues financially later on once the stadium is finally under Belle Vue control.
