Panthers89
End of the day, people have different situations where 17.50 could be counted as a lot of money as depends on your circumstances. So it's a tough one to call, but if it means having a successful team, I'd sacrifice an extra 2.50 a week
Joseq7
I respect that other people have a different perspective - all I'm saying is from my perspective a couple o' quid is nothing and I aint rich that's fer sure (unlike SCB, I've never had a car over £50,000, ...or £40,000, ...or £30,000, ...or £20,000). Jeez, folk spend more than £17.50 every night down the local boozer or just on a round!! I just find it unbelievable that folk think £17.50 is loads a money - it aint!! (imho) You're missing the point.....or just being deliberately obtuse. It's not that £17.50 is a lot of money, on its own. It's £140 for my partner and I to go four times a month......now that is a lot of money. Please do not recount your SCB story for a fourth time.
Halifaxtiger
Berwick is £15 to get in £2 for programme and parking is free? where's your 50p came from Crap memory I stand corrected : the programme was £2.00. The second tier isn't near high enough to see the action on the back straight , the raised bit overlooking the 3rd bend offers a much better view . You really have to get there early and get your position right at the front , I made the schoolboy error last week of moving away to get a coffee from the shack and when I returned a family of fatties had moved in with chairs . That has become another problem , you get the ones who don't want to pay an extra pound to sit in the stand hogging the front of the back straight with those plastic chairs , I'd bin those . Anyway as for yesterday's meeting , we were just irresistible , not a single failure , with Richie Worrall back from injury with an amazing performance . Peterborough's riders didn't look comfortable at all on a track with dirt , Ostergaard improved dramatically once it slickened off once we reached the latter heats . Tom Perry tried his heart out , but the rest were pretty poor . But on yesterday's performance we wont be far away when the prizes are handed out , especially if our so called long tail keeps on improving at the rate they are . Just wish it would hurry up and get a wee bit warmer . 'Family of fatties' Brilliant Let's just say it's comparible with other sporting institutions around the city . But the main argument should surround whether it's right and fair that a PL club should be charging prices equal to or greater than EL clubs . Quite. I don't think its expensive (some would disagree), but its more expensive than everywhere else (including EL tracks). £17.00 at Berwick, £22.50 at Glasgow. That's a lot of difference. cyclone
Not disagreeing with anyone's POV about single adult ticket prices, but here's a different perspective. Glasgow is focussing on family entertainment, hence's all the activities aimed at kids. (Suspect with an eye on future support). This Friday I'm taking 3 eleven year olds to Armadale, cost £23 (standard, not advanced online). For Ashfield cost = £20. Cheaper. Many posts here are from an adult/single perspective. Worth mentioning that online cost would be £18.50 at Armadale this Friday Correct me if I am wrong, but there is no price discount for online ticket purchases at Glasgow? baba
Oh yeah we forgot about that Cyclone....Edinburgh Monarchs the pioneers of online discount.
DJEuan
I dont mind the entrance but i have curbed buying food in the stadium, i'll not bore you all to death but the quality has gone down since the start of last season but the price has remained the same. Agree with the comments about viewing on the back straight, i did move from my usual spot on Sunday to just off the 2nd bend just where the riders come out the pits and the view from there was really good. damosuzuki
Pie, chips, gravy as good as they've ever been. To the fans, look at the money and hard work the Facennas and promoters have put in, in the bar after the meeting on Sunday I did a double take - it's like being at a Premiership football club. Awesome place.

Awesome place. Speedway's a Vanarama product with similar crowd levels though. Until that finance and hard work is put into the overall product nationally then locally it'll soon wear thin with those currently putting the money and effort in. Looking at the Glasgow website I thought that it looked very much like the start of the RF era at Peterborough. Facebook, Twitter, Tiger's TV, online shop, Red Alert news updates and even an App thingy. It all sounds very familiar.

Thats a fair point but after a year of the new set up the novelty hasnt worn off, its exciting heading to the track regardless of the visitors. Perhaps differently from the previous PB owner, Glasgow own their track and are making the stadium the business, of which speedway uses it one day a week. Im sure great efforts will be made to break even this season as long as the weather improves and we dont see too many visiting performances that we did on Sunday. Glasgow fans have suffered more than most and recognise the good times dont last forever however right now we'll take it.

Not even for one second mate. Perhaps it is yourself that is missing my point. A quid is only worth about 30p these days - an inescapable fact. Yes, it depends on how far you go back - indeed correct. Nevertheless, at some point a quid has become 30 percent of what it used to be worth. 17.5 is just a number. Times that by 0.3 and you get £5.25. So it really is only "worth" about a fiver these days. Its all about perception. The good news is that the £140 per month you are spending x 0.3 = only £42 per month. Sorted!! Salaries these days are measured in tens of thousands of pounds don't forget. And, just for you (my sense of humour couldn't resist!), here is (another especially for you) recount of how SCB bought a car for more than £50,000 about 10 years ago and came on 'ere complaining about 2 quid!!!! My football going friends and workmates think £17.50 is "cheap as chips" compared to what they pay at football. The reason why they don't go to speedway aint 'cos they think its too expensive, its 'cos they don't like the sport. But yeah, they keep telling me that speedway prices are "cheap as chips". tyretrax
I made a suggestion about installing the temporary type of terracing that they have at Redcar. I was told that it would be expensive and at the moment the answer was no. If the plan to build the speedway and football academy goes ahead it would be a few years before anyone came through that into a team place. In the short term, in my opinion, spectator facilities are more important. Other than that I'm satisfied with the developments. If you'd actually bothered to read this thread these are comparative totals for Adult Entry + Programme + Parking. At Glasgow this is £17.50 + £3.00 + £2.00 = £22.50. At Berwick this is £15.00 + £2.00 + £0.00 = £17.00. Do keep up.

A total of £17.50 fer me then, or as a quid only worth 30p these days, just over a fiver.

TheScotsman
Yum. Sad to say my milkman doesn't do them and neither does Ocado, but Amazon sell them and they get very high customer ratings.
