iris123
For example, I have now retired but I have "live" websites because whilst I have notified the people I paid to produce the websites that I have retired, they have not acted on my behalf, and I dont know the access passwords Is this post saying that once someone retires the access passwords should automatically be handed over? Do we know if Dave Hunting or Huntley or both have retired?Or at least were retired before they passed away?Seems like you might have stumbled on another scandal ripping pensioners off. Then again, maybe he didn't pay his fees and the people with access took the site down? Pity, because if that was the site with all the British Champions etc listed from the 40s or 50s it was a very informative site
Guest
Hi Gustix, copied below is a copy of "whois" and it refers to a Dave Hunting (not Huntley), states the site was set up on 11th May 2011 and last modified 5th May 2015. The allocation of the web address expires 11th May 2017. All of that seems to tie in with what you state, he passed away early 2015 either he "pulled" the website down off the internet shortly before he died, or someone did it on his behalf. To pull a website down, or modify it, you have to have access to it via security passwords. For example, I have now retired but I have "live" websites because whilst I have notified the people I paid to produce the websites that I have retired, they have not acted on my behalf, and I dont know the access passwords. I may be wrong, but the only ones who could reactivate the site are those who have the access details. Come May 2017, when the registration to Dave Hunting expires the name "cyclespeedwayhistory" will be available to others to register for themselves and do what they wish with the name (not the content). https://www.whoisxmlapi.com/?gclid=CPaX54Sg2c0CFe4y0wodmlsJKw&domainName=cyclespeedwayhistory.org.uk&outputFormat=xml The above is the text of a message forwarded by Ove Fundin Fan on Monday, July 4, 2016, and currently to be seen in original format in BSF General Discussions as 'Lost Cycle Speedway Website.'. Would members please note the RED font in regard to the origination of this Post and Link. It was created originally by Ove Fundin Fan as clearly shown - not by myself. I just forwarded it! Guest
This is the website Link to the 'lost' site mentioned in the preceding message: www.cyclespeedwayhistory.org.uk/news.shtml If you click on the Link it advises that the site cant be found. I posted it as an indication of what happens to searchers trying to now find the site. I have found some of the websites images on this Link, which also carries many more cycle speedway photos. Click on the image for an enlargement and more information. google cycle speedway images
