TonyE
Any Robins fans feeling optimistic regarding this one? Weather should not be a problem (rain wise) but looks as if thermals will be required.

A ORLOV
Very few clubs will win at Lakeside. It will just be a question of by how many points we get beaten.

Halifaxtiger
Pity. After my last two visits to Lakeside I was looking forward to this. Totally understandable, forecast is crap.
speedwaysliders
Totally understandable, forecast is crap. I really do get annoyed when i read this,in this day and age this should never happen,i couldnt care less what the weather people say, theres been no rain for days here in Darford ,the ground is bone dry,and if by anychance they had track covers to work under there is NO NEED to call this match so early. Its not like Swindon fans are traveling from Scotland, its quite local, and if i was a promoter in this instance i would try 110% to get the meeting on.Pure lazy ,and cant be arsed to name a few words somes up their motivation to get this match on.Really bad as its been called off to so called weather experts ,a million miles away from any speedway match, the ref doesnt care to inspect the track, they just go with the flow,British speedway has nothing in place to stop this kind of thing happening.Looks like jon cook alone made the call.whats he got another function to get to tonight,so hes thinks he may as well pospone it.Completely stupid to call a meeting off on the evidence of bad weather happening, when they can do so much to help or invest in some kind of track cover where they can still work on the track. marko
Track covers are all well and good when rain comes late morning or afternoon but when everything points to rain during a match itself they serve no purpose, I back the clubs decision 100% saves a lot of wasted journeys and more importantly does not cost the club so much money although it will still cost them some, these decisions I am sure are not taken lightly for that very reason and as it says on the official site every forecast was looked at and consultation with the met office only reinforced their belief. It is frustrating, that there is no doubt especially when it comes between two blank weeks meaning it will be close to four weeks between home meetings, but it's only April so plenty of time to rearrange the meeting in hopefully in much more favourable weather.

I understand where you are coming from, and the fact you make about blank dates in the calender, they seem to be not too bothered because the fixtures are so thin on the ground, but the cost facts are ALL Swindon riders are in the country so if JC is just worried about his riders costs he needs shooting.Again there is total lack of forsight or drive that one man has the ability to call this off.Coventry are also riding tonight, and reading posts on other forums Poole wanted this fixture cancelled, but Coventry bravely stuck to their guns so the meeting goes ahead tonight, and i dont know what weather forcasts Mr Horton is looking at but that match is still on,with similar weather forcast for them!!! I think you'll find no rain forecast during the meeting at Coventry http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2652221 so not the same thing at all. Mindless rants do little but confirm a mindless post. Speedway is a Business and it means no income if a meeting is called off. So, I am sure this was not done lightly. Hopefully the weather will be kinder for the re-staging. Up the Hammers!

Moaning for the sake of moaning I think. 16 miles North of the track it has been raining here since 3o'clock. Rain is predicted until late into the evening. So what are they supposed to do, race on track covers ? Of course Jon Cook made the call, he is the promoter, it's his money down the drain. The rain off has just cost him around £5000 in stadium rent, medics, riders flights, and all the other fixed expenses that still have to be paid, which he won't get back through the turnstiles tonight. Hardly a decision to be taken lightly, especially as he has just spent thousands on a new air fence on bends 3&4. That won't get paid for by postponing meetings. You have just made the case for me,so thanks for that,so if they are going to loose as you say around £5,000,my point again is,what have they got to loose if any forward thinking promoter to get the match on.Hes chucking away that money again as you say.Its a business as you again say,so how do you again defend jc(and its not his money but sd's) for not trying to at least give it a go.Again if you are that worried about costs ,all swindon riders are in the uk,so it just leaves 3 lakeside riders to fly in.Are you telling me he is going to call off the meeting so early and is willing to loose the money you again stated.Mind blowing how fans can back a decision like this, with the facts you have just given me, Ps time 5pm still perfect speedway conditions, infact they may have to water the track if it started now!!! liam
Still raining, terrible decision to call it off early, bet everyone would rather be standing in the rain right now at the track.

It's now 7.15. It's been raining for 4 hours and no sign of it stopping. It would be madness to have the fans there for a meeting with zero chance of getting on
