Shale Searcher
Thought Poland had Sundays, Saturdays and Fridays this season? Or are they exempt from the one racenight rules?
chris4gillian
So many excuses for tai, poor chap he must be tired, he rides a bike for a total of 5 mins a meeting and paid a lot of money, he is then flown and driven to race meetings, that must be so tough compared to doctors doing very long shifts saving lives for little money compared to tai. Let's put things into perspective here and stop the excuses. I take it you've never taken a flight or been on a very long drive....both are very tiring just the once let alone 4 or 5 times a week! Come on man, stop coming up with silly reasons to try to discredit Woofy. What has he ever done to you? Jack, nowt, bugger all, sweet FA, nada, zilch that's what.
stevebrum
same as 2005 whats changed then More are not doing the EL. They are all probably sick to death of being ignored by the BSPA , bit like the amount of fans who can't be bothered to go anymore too I'd say. Done all the Denmark,Sweden,Poland flights many times, when your young & fit it's nothing, music on and as soon as you take off you are landing. Too many excuses from these very well paid riders, they are becoming more like pampered footballers where money comes first by doing as little as possible. Thought Poland had Sundays, Saturdays and Fridays this season? Or are they exempt from the one racenight rules? Yes Poland has 3 nights but that's ok lol That's a fair point and I'd rather he drop Sweden and do the EL. However what he is doing is the same as ALL the rest. That's proves who are at fault really. Except Holder,NKI,Doyle,Zagar,Jonsson, bomber all GP riders who race in British speedway
stevebrum
Except Holder,NKI,Doyle,Zagar,Jonsson, bomber all GP riders who race in British speedway Wow, nearly half from 6 seasons ago. Doesn't that tell you something? Jonsson had about 6 seasons out until last season, Zagar has missed a few seasons here and Iversen wants out. Thanks for helping me prove my point tho. All i am saying is that there is more to it than burn out.In 2005 all GP riders bar Rickardsson and the Poles were happy to do 36 + knock-out cup meetings without any talk of burn out yet the last few years 28 meetings is far to much. All i can come up with is that they now earn far more abroad than they did 10 years or so ago and no longer need the income from the Elite league. After all most people who work more than one job don't earn as much as they need to live on in their main job if they did most would not do it. Holder and Zagar have taken years out from the UK Jonsson hasnt been here for how many years and is technically not going to win the World Crown Harris is never going to be world champ Iversen wants out Ok you made your point with Doyle!! Come back and discuss when the likes of Hancock, Pedersen, Janowski, Kildemand and Zmarzlik want to ride here!!!!! Tai wants to be world champion and the best way to get to his goal is to not race here. Isnt hard to understand for most people. Lets hope you cheer him and Bomber on tonight! Fourentee
I think tai would return on a set day, but not with our race nights This has been mentioned by both yourself and at least one other poster (without checking back it might be stevebrum). Here we go: Nov 2015 Express & Star, Tai Woffinden Q&A night at the Cleveland Arms with Nigel Pearson: “I’d be back in British racing along with a lot of the other Grand Prix guys – if they changed the Elite League to one set night per week. “There’s a lot of riders riding in the top two divisions and, looking in from the outside, it seems there is a shortage of riders in British racing. “If they took a bold decision and made a set race night for the Elite League I’m pretty sure the likes of Nicki Pedersen, Greg Hancock and myself would go for it. “Monday wouldn’t be good because we have Poland on a Sunday and Sweden on a Tuesday, but maybe make Wednesday or Thursday Elite League Speedway night with every team racing that night. “I can’t believe the fans are happy about seeing the same teams twice at their home track in league meetings, make it one home and one away and see how it goes. “The least they could do is give it a try and see what happens, but yes I would like to return to British racing one day.”

Who knows the real reason and I'd guess money plays it part. Personally speaking I thinks demands on the GP with extra dates added over recent years plus with Poland becoming the biggest player and the UK much lower down the pecking order plays a huge part. Plus back then everyone seemed to want to get some education on UK tracks so most of the top boys and youngsters would want to be here. I think the likes of Greg and Nicki showed you could still be the World's best without needing the UK and it seems to have been adopted as the culture. I would imagine Polish speedway culture has changed as well because virtually all of the best rode here and it was almost expected and encouraged by all speedway nations and now that seems to be virtually none existence. Daniel Smith
As a huge Woffinden fan, I was disappointed with his interview with Brandon in tonight's GP. Came across as a bit of a jumped up spoilt brat for my liking. Normally one of the best and most articulate when interviewed.

I thought he looked tired chasing Doyle & Holder who race in British Speedway

Steve0
Well done Woffy - to finish 4th on the night was a good result. Holder blew the win with Robins 1 and 2 leading him home. All 4 rode well and should have a good series
