Sour grapes? In what way? I was an Oxford fan - we never rode against Birmingham (we moved down as Birmingham moved up, and we moved back up as Birmingham shut down).

There were a section of Brummies' fans cheering when the Heathens fell. In particular, a loud cheer when Luke Chessell fell in Heat 12, which changed a 3-3 to... er.. a 3-3. Lots more points to Brummies' cause there then!!

I made a few neutral observations about the meeting. If you don't like that, then tough.

All the best

Rob

Well done you for explaining your background, although what that has to do with it Christ only knows.

You clearly did not understand UK Martins response. I suggest that you read it again, then if you still don't understand maybe someone on here will find the time to explain to you in more detail.

Understand his post fine thanks, and responded to it, since Brummies did not score any extra points due to Chessell falling, which was his excuse.

Meanwhile, Birmingham clearly have a very good side for a second successive season, with strength from 1-to-7, while Cradley do look very top heavy at this point of time.

Looked at my programme until Heat 12, at which point both sides had provided six heat winners, but Brummies were 12 points to the good. The difference was Birmingham's first six heat winners were all different riders, while the seventh (JPB) had two paid wins. That kind of solid scoring is the kind that wins titles.

All the best

Rob

Looked forward to heat 13, I actually thought it was going to go Cradley's way. Both Zac and Tom hadn't gated all night and were against fast gating Max and all elbows Ashley. When the Brummies came out in front the roof lifted... Heat 15 proved just as exciting.

Well done the brummies a very impressive 1 to 7

On a different matter what's the point of the advertising board outside the stadium showing brummies vs Kent May 4th on the night the local rivals are riding.surely last nights match should have been on there.proberly wouldn't have got many extra passing fans but you never know

Is it me?

I agree, it always seems odd that the meeting on that evening isn't actually on the board. It's a bit like a cinema advertising the next show and not the one everyone is queueing for.

The advertising boards always do show the meeting taking place that evening - they are not changed until 7.15pm to show the following meeting - as they were last night!

On the subject of supporters cheering when an opposition rider falls, this has gone on from time immemorial. It is a despicable practice but it happens everywhere and there is no point in trying to shame those who indulge - they wouldn't do it if they had any shame and only do it to get a reaction, so the best remedy is to just ignore it.

I can testify to that Brian - a group of aforementioned morons stand near me at Perry Barr - they are also quick to critise an "under performing" rider - like they could do better if they had the gonads!!!

I know i may be shot down but, after seeing him 3 times i think James Purchase maybe wasting his time & ours. I'm sure he's a very nice chap but, he's not yet shown enough to justify the cost to himself yet.(ok i'll get my coat)

Well there you go, what do i know, out for 2 weeks or more because of injury. What's Ben hopwood doing?

Must admit Brian I didn't get there till 7.15 so it must have just been changed. Why not leave it till after the meeting starts though. Seems strange to me

Well I could do that but if I did I would miss 3 or 4 races and would have to to be lightning fast to keep the scoreboard up to date!! If I left it till after the meeting has finished, it would have to wait till I had dismantled the scoreboard, unlocked the changing rooms and filled in my Environment Report, so have a heart - I'm an old timer of 76 now!!!!

lol sorry Brian next time im there il give you a hand. you should ask my brother to help you. he goes to pb every match hes the one who carries a tigger the bear around with him. hes only 48 so hasn't grown up yet!!!

Good of you to offer but I'll just about manage!!!! Your brother sounds a bit like me - I'm still a schoolboy at heart!

At tracks all round the country there are people like me who do these little odd jobs (or should I have said odd people who do these little jobs) which are useful but non-essential. I can't imagine that not changing the "next match" boards would have much effect on the size of the crowds, but I secretly like to fancy that it does!!!

My wife thinks I am not right in the head, but we enjoy doing these jobs so why not? When I was asked by Graham Drury in 2007, what job I wanted to do I said I would clean the toilets or do anything as long as I could watch the racing - and on one or two occasions over the last 9 years I have cleaned the toilets!

Andrews will improve, yes he did look better last night, only fell off once, Not on the pace but, looked alittle steadier.

Thanks for the reply Pete. I guess the lad can only go in one direction really. Hope he does get it together. Remembering his grandfather ride makes me feel very old now.

Love the exchanges and banter on here. You guys are so obviously real speedway fans. It makes a pleasure to read compared to other parts of the forum. And to think that I was nervous going to Dudley Wood for the first time in the 70's, having been told scary stories of the behaviour of the locals. Never had any trouble at all though. Best wishes for an enjoyable season guys.

You can say that again Macca! I can remember Bob Andrews from his cycle speedway days and also as a junior riding for California Poppies in the Southern Area League. His grandson looked ait raw at Perry Barr last Wednesday, but I wish him well and hope he will make the cut.
