Workington Comets V Edinburgh Monarchs 23/4/16 7pm Pl

Recommended Posts

Should be a good meeting, looking forward to the heat leader battles, will be well matched around DP. Erik Riss seems like he is ever improving and will be interesting to see how fast he goes tonight.

The meeting will probably be won at the bottom end as people are saying. Matt Williamson has had some decent scores already and perhaps is one of the best No7's in the league. I'll go for 52-40.

Humped, pumped, smashed what ever way you want to put it just not good enough. Campton scoring 9 kind of sums things up.

I expected us to get beat but not quite as bad as we did. Only Erik and Kevin put up any sort of a fight by the sounds of it. Can't say anything about Sam as he's carried us all season so far and it just seems like he's had a horrible night, or Dan as he's still so raw. The Fish seems to be down on speed, Jye bikes seem to pack up a lot which is a worry. Max away from home is a major worry he hasn't kicked on if anything has went backwards, if he doesn't start improving he might lose his team place IMO.

Good night for the Comets tonight, Edinburgh very poor apart from Riss, Wolbert and Fisher who provided good entertainment. The rest of their 4 riders scored 5 points between them!

Riss is spectacular on a big track, somewhat wasted on a track like Armadale perhaps. (Joke)😛

For the Comets, all round good performance, nice to see Campton winning a couple of heats after coming back from that collarbone injury, he has his knockers on here, but is still better than quite a few other foreign riders in the PL.

Think we will be strong at home again this season, away form will obviously be the key factor in how we do, hopefully better than last season!

a word of praise for local kid , dan bewley . first time i have seen him and the guy NEVER gave up . if the monarchs drop young dan, i am sure there will be a good few teams wanting him in their team as a 3pointer . he can gate and is steady as a rock . it will be a sad day if m/bra drop him to fit in davey. we all thought dan deserves more time in the team and should not be dropped for an aussie who has had his time. he will improve and davey wont.. cracking wee rider and a good gater .. . well done master bewley

He won't be getting dropped so no need to worry about that.

see the dvd footage of the meeting before you let your comments dig a hole you cant get out of .( 2012@ workington) then decide ..

i dont think the two have ever met again for one reason or another . injury or other commitments .

from an outsiders point of view , sam seem to be in it more than most .

i have never mentioned the words, HOpe FOR HANDBAGS AT THE MEETING . those are your words , not mine .

we all know sam cant hack being passed by anyone, so he takes it out on the innocent victim of the pass . .good racer ., but not very honest , his reactions are poor towards other sportsmen etc .see the aussie GP. the race , not the aftermath . cheers J.

My problem was with the use of the word saga. Saga means something that gets dragged out over a long period of time like some thing happens every time they race against each other or that sam is somehow out for revenge. That is clearly not the case. In fact I was reminded tonight that Sam was badly injured last year racing for Leicester laying his bike down to avoid a stricken rider, the stricken rider was Adam Roynon who I believe was very grateful.

Anyway well done Workington very worthy winners tonight, all 7 with at least 2 paid wins and competitive in all races. Only ran 3 lasts all night. Although Hansen clearly had 2 wheels over the line when he passed Sam in heat 5, guess it is virtually impossible to see from refs box and wouldn't have impacted the final result.

a night to forget for the monarchs, Sam and Max in particular.

A very rare off night as a result of mechanical gremlins for Sam all but ended any chance we had, brilliantly team rode Erik into the lead in ht11.

Max must find a way to be competitive in away matches, his night summed up by being replaced by Dan in ht12.

Dan again didn't look out of place and was solid earning him a couple of points.

Jye picked up an excellent point in ht3 and looks like he xan compete in the first corner but spoiled it with a couple of falls

Ryan tried hard but got caught in the wrong place on the 2nd bend in 3 of his races and couldn't get back into those races.

Kevin had a couple of fantastic 2nd bends and was decent all night but will be disappointed by ht7

Then there was Erik, absolutely brilliant hanging off the bike and looking faster than all others. Too wide in ht15 but thoroughly deserved his 14 points.

Favourite moment was when the fish slapped his bike like a horse when looking for more speed. It worked for a lap as he almost got alongside wells but couldn't sustain it. Needed to give it another whip the next lap.

Smiler is probably not smiling at the moment having blown 2 engines tonight.

Better a night in Norwich than a trip to Derwent Park, or whatever it is called these days - Gnu Zoo or something, by the looks of it tonight, Scotsman.

Navajos or Cherokees?

Run out of 'Likes' so just to say, George, you need to get your ears cleaned out. Scotsman said 'engines', not 'Indians' - that's ENGINES. And by the way, it ain't a John Wayne movie and we mustn't call them 'Indians' any longer. They are indigenous native Americans - or summat like that.

(Thanks, George, you did give me a chuckle.)

PS, well done the Comets. It looked a decent 1 - 7 when it was put together with Proctor in the line-up, and it ain't doing too shabbily as it is now. Could be an exciting season ahead, lads and lasses. Pleased for you.
