Workington Comets V Newcastle Diamonds Saturday 16/04

Shut up !!! Course he could have got passed Claus , but Claus blocked him , very overrated in my opinion , Lambert couldn't have polished Richie Worralls boots last night . And if Newcastle had brought Kus, would have been a total different score line .

 

How I wish every team could have a rider as over rated as Lambert is. I think by the end of the season Lambert will be one of the top guys in the PL.

What size crowds yous lot of marras getting up there now?. Used to follow The Comets in 2004/5 when I lived in Carlisle, the brilliant Steady and Stoney, Rusty, Wrighty, Kauko, Aidan Collins, Woody, the superb Fours meetings(the 3 streakers!) and Stoney testimonial with Steady beating Leigh Adams, 2500 crowds. Think they used to average about 1200 for league matches, but my cousin who lives in Spatri and sometimes attends was saying crowds are well down. Gromet the Comet, Mystic Mel no longer around, and the mouthy guy was shot dead in the gun massacre in Whitehaven. Used to chat to the riders in car park and bar afterwards. Michael Max was superb presenter, Walshie the announcer, the dozen heads looking over the fence for free between bends 3/4. always so bloody cold up at DP! Charles Wright, ex-junior, now riding brilliantly for my local team, Swindon, what happened to James Wrighty,once of Swindon, his older bruv?

There were 88 on the back straight. I counted them during the tractor racing.

He didn't make the gate so well, which on that track was all important. He was a lot faster than most riders, but couldn't get around them due to the single racing line available.

but lambert did do the four laps and finished the race in third . so not fuel probs. poss pacifier probs .

Did you count them in the home straight too?looked close to full to me and that holds a 1000 most teams would give their right arms for that

 

There's 1200 seats in the Grandstand, was a healthy crowd last night, they even had to apologise for running out of race cards.

Overall they did well to get the meeting done rather quickly, the track was different to usual and maybe not to Hansen's liking although he still did rather well, Vissing certainly knows the fastest way around DP, looking like a great signing.

not round workington if they forget to turn the taps on it runs out on the first lap

also very little fuel is in the engine theres more in the carburettor mind but still not enough to do 2 laps

and lamberts average is almost double masons so unfair to have a dig at mason

Lamberts first look at Worky, so the cricism is a bit ott surely...

 

Give over Julie, the kid has just turned 18.

if he was as good as i was expecting after his first or second ride he would have been in front like other top riders that come to derwent park for the first time

obviously this young lad is good but dont think from what i saw hes the superstar others think he is

all riders can have a off night hopefully ill see the real robert lambert in the future and ill change my opinion

i acn only judge from what i see with my own eyes both worrall's and ludvig all rode better than lambert last night ludvig had a poor first ride and then improved as the night went on something i expected lambert to do but he didnt realy improve that much if any

i have yet to see a speedway machine come out of the pits at workington, do a practice start, full blown race start and then run out of fuel 2 laps later . they nominally only get from the pits, race start and then run out going down the back straight or 3rd bend ... . deffo not a distance that equates to approx 2 and 3/4 laps . eat my knowledge .

Nominally get out of the pits? Does that mean he only thought he got out of the pits?

 

He had overtaken Jensen and then conked out after about 1 1/2 laps - which is usually the amount of fuel held in the carburettor (I had included the carburettor as part of the engine in the earlier post). On what do you base your nominal knowledge on? Anything scientific or just something you've made up on the spot?

 

The thing with fuel taps, is that if they are turned off, the bike stops after a bit. Then you turn them back on again and lo and behold, suddenly the bike starts working again.

i base my judgement on tears of watching riders run out of fuel at workingtom .. a carb bowl will only hold a small amount of fuel and when a restart is required , a riders mech tops up the fuel tank because the bikes only have a tiny fuel cells on them . just enough to do the required start/race . oh and that of motocross when you dont switch the fuel on and only get round to the first hill! if the bike were so economical , smaller tank would be fitted and ippo would not supply larger fuel cells for their 16 lppper event .

 

i may as well add that i dont think roberts mechanical issue was fuel starvation, more like a mechanical/electrical problem . he looked slower in certain parts of the circuit and quicker in others . so looks like it was a mechanical issue , not fuel

I think it's more down to the fact you seem to have something against Robert Lambert.

 

I've seen riders forget to turn on the fuel taps many times at different tracks over the years - it's normally on the second lap they run out of fuel, dependent upon how much fuel was in the bike. They are 500cc engines, so that should give some indication of how much fuel is in the engine at any time, plus the carb and then the fuel cell.

 

It depends on how much the rider chooses to put in. That's why after a re-start some riders go to the pits and some don't.

 

I don't know for certain that he forgot to turn the fuel taps on, but given that he started quickly, overtook a rider and then slowed down. Then suddenly after fiddling with the bike around the fuel taps, suddenly got upto full speed again it would appear to the be most likely explanation.

1, i have nothing against Robert at all . a bright star of the future for G.B.

 

2, some riders run with tanks full ish and other what they can get away with .

 

3, the first heat and Robert gated in third place and passed rasser down the back straight .

 

4, Roberts points return showes that it was more than a fuel problem .

 

5, references to his pacifier were made because i witnessed him take his misfortune out on the pits gate by kicking it , very professional in front of all the fans . .

 

you have your opinion and i have mine . the post will only degenerate into a slanging match, so lets leave it there and remain genuine posters of the sport .

In my Opinion Mr Arson ;) . He messed Peterborough around last season, opting for the "higher" league meetings . 18 might explain him kicking the fence in his paddy :D . Maybe he just needs to remember he should walk before he can run. Theres alot of hype surrounding him , nothing against him , I hope he does prosper into a valuable GB rider, but at the minute thats what I think

Don't know what happened at Peterborough - but I do recall there was a lot of bitterness from the peterborough supporters over missed meetings. Hopefully, he has learnt a valuable lesson (being 17 at the time it's not unusual to make poor decisions) and will be better at Newcastle.

 

From what I've seen of him this season, he's certainly got the desire and commitment to win races which is all that anybody can ask really. I'm not going to begrudge him kicking a post because he lost, makes a change from the helmet getting the treatment.

In Robert Lambert's defence of what happened at Peterborough , the least said about it the better and I wouldn't want to bore you with the details and it would take too long , so I wish him all the best away from Peterborough

you really think the carb bowl holds enough fuel for half a race

at that rate a gallon of methanol must last almost a full season

it might last a season in a container ,

but it will certainly be no good for a methanol burning machine . the fuel wont last that long, it goes off. a couple of gallons should see lambert through the season in thee uk , cos most of his meeting are in other countries ...
