Heathen1984
Cradley chucked few points away tonight. Dont think cradley av a that good of a team but rye house are very poor, one rider is all they have.

Dont think cradley av a that good of a team but rye house are very poor, one rider is all they have. Slightly harsh given the Rye have Rob Branford delayed arriving in Britain and also given that actually Luke Priest has been the top scorer with decent returns in the initial matches and Hopwood is a seasoned heat leader at this level. That said Rye House are not a stand alone team and are using untried kids in an attempt to give them experience and maybe bring the odd rider through for the senior team. Laudable if you ask me. I'd rather be watching a team of kids making their way in the sport than a club who go out to buy the NL title as some clubs do.
Ben91
The Heathens only really pulled away from heat 12 onwards, Branford would have outscored Hopwood and Hunter would probably have chipped in with a few too. The Heathens don't look that much stronger than the Raiders in my eyes. Kingston, and whether he can stay on his bike or not, is going to be key for Cradley. Â Like the idea of bringing through the young kids for the senior team, but then we give Hume and Bowtell a full season to adjust only for them to clear off to other teams. Much rather have had them in the team than Woods.
pete cc
Staying on is all the matters when it comes to scoring points. Basford is steady, not very fast at times but is scoring by staying upright.
Shadders
As a stand alone side Cradley are battling with the likes of Kent, Eastbourne & Birmingham for top spot. A battle they will ultimately lose

One of the very few joys following Rye House last year (apart from the KOC win at Berwick) was seeing the development of Hume & Bowtell.

Basford is steady, not very fast at times but is scoring by staying upright.  I was impressed with his ride when leading Hopwood, he rode a great line for 3 laps covering the probably moves even though ultimately he couldn't keep him at bay for the whole race  A decent meeting with some good races, while as mentioned above I don't think we have the strongest team in the league it is a pretty old fashioned Cradley team with 2 super strong heat leaders, solid back-up (Chessell so far has been more than solid back up) and youngsters who will have good and bad meetings. waco
From the updates it sounds as if there were some battle royals with the 3 heat leaders of Cradley, and Ben Morley ,and by all accounts a very good meeting ,, Luke Priest and Ben Hopwood doing all that could be asked of them,,We all know at Rye that we do not have a complete team that can win matches at present,,but changes are on the horizon which could well improve the situation..My worry is that the Rye fans may not turn out in numbers till things improve..Happy to know we put on a good show at Cradley....
Ommer Mon
Enjoyed last nights match. I thought Rye House were better than the final score suggests and they were right with us for the first half of the meeting. Ben Morley had some great encounters with the Cradley heat leaders. I think Ben Basford has been quite a revelation. He is solid and makes very few mistakes. He'll get better as the season progresses but may find a spot in the main team a bit of a challenge if he gets promoted when the first averages come out. Â The big test is next Wednesday at Perry Barr. Ash, Cleggy and Luke should score well but I think the others may find it a bit harder due to unfamiliarity with the track, lack of outings so far and the strength of the Brummies lower order. Hope we can nick a point but doubt it.
