Matt Ford - No Sympathy

Recommended Posts

The council have said that any development must have a minimum of 2 sports. The other factor about PTFC moving away from their Tatnum base is that they would have to pay back substantial loans that they have received to improve their current facilities!!

Stadia UK would only be interested if greyhounds were still part of it, but the dogs aren't that successful/popular any more either publicly or politically, so imo it would need someone (a developer??) to buy out the remaining years of the Stadia UK lease in order for any development including flats, hotel, restaurant(s) casino, nightclub whatever plus the specific sports, to be approved.

Matt has also stated that if speedway is to be included then he would insist on continuity ie not missing a single season, but I'm not sure if that would be feasible, depending on the complicity of any scheme.

But the council have said you have to have both. You are not allowed one without the other.

You wrong Lisa. you show us in black and white that is the case There is not a chance in hell that the stadium would have a regulation football pitch of which poole town would need and FA aproved, Dogs and speedway. To do that the stadium would have to be completely knocked down and re built. Not a chance in hell is that going to happen, because you do not have the room.

That is correct but ‘Boscombe’ was only retained as a connection to their former name of Boscombe FC when they played in the Bournemouth district league before representing the town at national level. Boscome is a district within the borough of Bournemouth not a town in its own right so Steve is correct in that both AFCB & Poole Speedway represent the whole of the Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch conurbation and the attendances at both venues are a mix of residents of all of these towns and the surrounding smaller rural towns & villages.

Back to the topic though, I’ve seen a few threads over the years with posters urging promoters to ‘wake up’ & ‘get out and promote’ without receiving the abuse that RP has on this thread just because she defends Matt Ford so that seems unfair.

I have the utmost respect for all promoters as it’s basically a hiding to nothing & without them there would be no Speedway but it has to be said that Matt Ford has raised the bar. He is passionate about Speedway & has taken on Speedway as his full time business & livelihood and how many of his critics would be brave enough to do that when historically Speedway has been run as a hobby or sideline to the promoters main business? He knows what his customers want and is hardnosed in going about achieving it but that’s business.

I find it laughable when I see ignorant posts on here suggesting that it’s somehow easier to promote speedway in Poole. You reap what you sow & there are major roundabouts across the conurbation sponsored by Poole Speedway. Go to Bournemouth sea front & there are advertisements on the promenade railings. I was in Poole today and in the main shopping centre there is a unit with a large screen TV in the window showing Speedway action, a bike on display and trophies in the window. All the things I’ve seen posters urging promoters to do over the years on here he has done but then gets ritually slaughtered as the ruination of the Elite league.

And a jolly good season AFC Bournemouth have had. Went to the old Dean Court to watch Swindon Town , Charlton, Millwall, posh area for a football ground, and likeable bunch of fans, mainly middle-aged guys wearing flat caps and anoraks. Hope they're not attracting the yobs from Mudeford, Barton/Milford-on-Sea, and Sandbanks now they're in top-flight. Need a bigger stadium

Good place to be a sports fan now. My old Gramps was a Knob from Bridport, used to follow Yeovil Town, more local than AFCB, and went to Weymouth speedway a few times.

I meant speedway and greyhounds. Not football.

Yep thats what i mean't, but clearly you misread the post. You cannot put 3 into 2..

But Skidder said at least two. So obviously they could have three if they wanted, even though it would cause a lot of disruption.

No they could not have 3 simple as that..

You know at least 2, means 2 or more don't you?

Stop changing it to suit your self buy edging your bets. They cannot have more than 2, who knows the stadium better, me or you ?

I'm going with Skidder as that who posted the 'at least 2' bit.

You go with who you like darling, but you cannot have more than 2, otherwise like i said the whole stadium would need to be pulled down to accomodate a third one. And next time you are at the stadium have a good look, or see me and i will show you why..

you know more than other Poole fans because you sell the SS.. ??? you should be on the telly :D

You know better than me then, can you tell me you can get 3 into 2 ? Hmm. Get your ass down to the stadium and look yourself. Totally cluelss arn't you..

Why do you bother Lisa? You'll have more luck getting blood out of a stone than getting a sensible answer or a post that answers anything you ask from the Speedway Star selling train spotter

More drivel from the king of drivel. You want to try and prove me wrong as well then..
