Crazy, they should only take the heats against second strings into consideration at least ..... if not they're not compared to the rest of the team. And no way should they've had their high starting averages .....

So they will all now be replaced by how many foreign riders at reserve who will take 7 rides?.

 

They should have been covered by a rule that if they moved into the main team they would have to always have their 4 rides per meeting.

From the BSPA website, it appears that Auty has been moved into the 1 - 5 although Starke has the highest average. This seems to support the view that only one of the EDR riders can move up & that the other remains permanently in the reserve spot. This is not in line with how the rule is written though.

Thought it had been cleared up that either reserve can move into the 1-5??

It is. The Regs state that the highest averaged EDR can move up and the #7 must always be an EDR.

Another shocking decision that a reserve can move up to a heat leader from an average gained from riding against 2nd strings & reserves.

I would double check that those EDRs have completed their qualifying 2 Home/ 2 Away meetings!! They cannot be promoted into the main team until they have.

 

The latest green sheets on BSPA site are showing the latest EDR averages based only on meetings completed so far

The whole point of the revised EL heat meeting formula was to protect FTR riders from facing heat leaders. Now, because of their 'protected rides' some have a false average high enough to move into the team and face heat leaders in every race!

 

When the decision was made to allow FTRs to rise into the team the 'protected heats' format should have been immediately dropped.

 

Does anyone in the BSPA hierarchy have the ability to think anything through logically? What a mess!

I know & I tried to explain this to a friend who never missed a meeting until the draft rule was brought in.

 

These idiots in charge of making these decisions are driving more fans away with every stupid rule they endorsed😡😡😡

Was a supporter of the FTR but it's fast turning into a farce will have to be changed somehow next year

I honestly don't think anyone expected an FTR to move to a HL role in one move. I think it shows how poor the Swindon team have performed that Wright will now be a second heat leader. Of course it is stupid and it certainly won't help with his development - especially when the guy who replaced him at reserve gets one of his rides.

Anyone with half a brain could have forseen it. Look at the top 20 of the El averages at the start of last season. It was always likely that some would jump straight to hl. Just as it would be highly unlikely that they would go to 2nd string and then to hl.

No way should this heat format -introduced to protect Draft riders remember - have been retained once Draft riders were no longer protected from moving to the top 5.

It's the latest in a string of staggeringly inept decisions.

The sensible way to achieve that is by changing the heat format so that ftr's gain a realistic average. They then move up on merit not on the basis of a totally false average.

Sorry you haven`t quite got it right It all about money- the EDR who goes into the 1-5 is still on EDR wages and the new reserve also goes on EDR money
