screm
Get down to Poole Gresham and enjoy proper speedway in front of a large friendly crowd. Plenty of noise, good racing and a knowledgeable crowd means you will have a very entertaining evening and £17 well spent. Difficult to quantify this post, other than showing complete arrogance. Gresham
The Fluff makes the difference between having an entertaining 2 hours for your money or just 15 minutes of racing with no fluff. It's supposed to be an entertainment is it not? I suppose it depends on what entertains you 'Oldtimer'. I'm happy watching the racing, chatting to friends between races, having a beer and listening to any interviews or reading programme notes. The majority of attempted Entertainment I've seen in the past at Speedway and other sporting events is generally poorly executed or cringe worthy. The only one that held my attention was the men in black vintage racing exhibitions. I wonder how many fans of speedway have actually sat on a bike and turned the throttle and felt the power? Always wondered why one couldn't be put on a stand and fans allowed to sit and give it a rev for a small donation...H&S I expect. Having ridden a bike...it certainly gives you far more respect. Nice idea and thought, but sadly it would never get past most H & S personnel. I take show bikes and do presentations on behalf of Newcastle Speedway at schools, shopping malls and organisations, etc. and I have to only use 'dry' bikes. I had a go many years ago and have nothing but admiration for anybody who dares ride a bike with no gears and breaks!

Such a shame...is there no way an exemption form couldn't be signed? Or would Insurance cost too much? Indeed...never been so scared in all my life...and that includes sky diving and worlds highest bungee jump

Just hope they don't realise that my working bikes, and not the show bike with the reaction machine on it, are all filled with combustible engine oil.
Trees
Personally, 4 riders, 4 laps is still as great as ever. The GPs and the SWC where theres almost no politics/favouritism is brilliant and I love it. But sadly, league racing the favouritsm, the bending rules, the cheating and the general "couldn't give a rubbish about the fans" feeling has ground me down. One of my favourite meetings of the last few seasons was Chris Harris' testimonial as it was just no nonsense, get on with it and race. Quite possibly my favourite meeting of the last 5 seasons was the British U15 final at Peterborough in 2014. Was just a load of kids who couldn't wait to get out and race and when they won a race or even got a "big" 3rd place celebrated, waved and generally milked it for all it was worth - all while the next 4 riders were dying to get out on track for their next heat - I loved it! So yeah, it's the the off track crap that has ruined it for me sadly If you can go along and ignore the politics the sport is amazing. Speedway is so easy for the gp and swc organisers ..... all the best riders, all wanting desparately to win, chucking money at their equipment and appearances, fans all want to see the product because of these reasons, can't go wrong! But they have, many times!!! Edited April 13, 2016 by Trees
