Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 6/4/16

Recommended Posts

More fantastic racing in heat ten. Every heat has been top notch. I kid you not when I say this has been some of the best action I have seen in a long time.track is slow but producing the type of racing we all hope for. With the exclusion of Watt who has been rubbish.

On speedway updates the texter is having kittens over Kurtz beating riders he should and Newman passing that top draft rider Robert Mear for what he believes a huge 5-1! Calm down mate Newman should be half a lap ahead of Mear!

It's also irrelevent how Watt rides as Poole have 5 heat leaders anyway so I'm sure a drop to reserve wont harm him. Holder has 5 from 3 and even with 2 riders struggling it's comfortable. Sounds like Lakeside making starts and Poole toying with them to try and provide entertainment.

Will be stunned if Poole dont hit 60 in this one

So Poole have failed to reach 60 and Elite League expert Gavan is stunned.

For my part I am relieved. It could have been a lot worse. To put it in perspective Lakeside did better than Swindon. That's nothing to crow about but they came away without the sort of mauling that saps a teams confidence. There will be probably be plenty of other teams going to WR this year and not doing any better. It seems from what Shovvy says that the Hammers at least got stuck in and put up a bit of a fight which is not always the case away to Poole

Good to see Lewis Kerr getting into the action, and Swid getting a win to keep his confidence up. Work in progress for LBR and Rob Mear it seems. Most importantly they all came through unscathed.

Watt happened to Dave Watt ? Did he think he was still riding for Lakeside or is Father Time catching him up ?

He's just not a heat leader any more. Did the vast majority of his scoring at second string last season, struggled in his few meetings as a heat leader then too. He'll be fine once he drops to second string.

Poor performances from Bridger and Mear. Hope with KT on board we will make changes this year when riders are not performing. I wouldnt make any changes yet too early in the season but if scoring particularly away from home does not improve in about a months time we must act quickly and make changes.

Expected result,as there will be many scores like this where Poole are concerned this season.

As you say Shovlar, times were slower but racing much better, time to standardise bikes?

The meeting started at 7.30 and was wrapped up at 8.56. Well done to Paul Carrington for not keeping the crowd standing around in the bitter cold wind.

A meeting full of thrilling racing and the scoreline doesnt show the closeness of the racing. Heat times were a good two seconds slower than usual but that didn't ruin a meeting that would have gone down a treat on Sky.

A good crowd, good racing, a Lakeside team that came for a fight and what more could you want?

For Poole

Holder was solid.

Kurtz is getting better by the week. Still learning the racing lines. I could see he was trying to pass going on the inside entering bend one. That wont work and try as he did, Swiderski was not going to be caught using that line. He will learn soon enough and is very talented.

Watt was woeful. A confidence crisis going on? Certainly looks like it and was wobbling arounf worse than our reserves. Needs to get his head sorted.

Buckowski was rider of the night. Fast and passing riders like they were standing still. Best I have seen him ride.

Hans started slowly (late arrival) but had some super tussles, the best with Jonsson where they went over the line with a tyre width between them.

Ellis battled well. Not as good as previous weeks but still good.

Newman was excellent and but for lifting in heat two would have scored a max.

Lakeside.

Jonsson was excellent entertainment and never gave up.

Swiderski had a gate and win with the two Poole riders climbing all over his back wheel.

Nilsson has had better meetings here but got a win.

Bridger was poor. Never really got stuck in at all.

The northern lad with the Skornicki haircut, Lawson thats it, didn't do as well ad expected.

Kerr was Ok but has scored better at Poole.

Have to feel a little sorry for Mear. Nowhere near a point then, in the second reserve race he pops out and is leading and Lakeside are on a 5-1, before Newman comes charging through, then a lap later Ellis comes from last to second.

A bigger win than I anticipated but still a meeting that was full of entertainment.

The return on Friday will be a very different story, not by entertainment, but by scoreline.

It's so pathetic, what us wrong with filming a few races?

Probably nothing with the odd race but how long Lisa before it's completely exploited; and entire meetings are streamed illegally?

Put yourself in the position of a promoter. They pay stadium rent; administration costs; riders wages......in fact, countless other expenditure from diesel for the tractors, right down to the nuts and bolts holding the fencing together. If you were having to outlay astronomical costs to present a meeting, would you honestly be happy with your product basically being stolen, and given away for free, to those who are making no contribution?

It's rare that I stick up for speedway promoters, particularly your one, but I fully understand and appreciate their reasoning for clamping down on, what after all, is theft.

Can some who was there tell us why the heat times were up to 2 seconds slower than normal please?

Thanks...

Because at 1.30 this afternoon the track was still slush. luckly the sun did come out but we had a very cold wind, not a drying wind and the combination of that the sun and the boys turning the track over dried it out. Had the sun not made an appearance the meeting could have taken a turn for the worse.

Poole to be nearer 60 than 50 by the finish.

Not too difficult to predict that one.

If one was to look at the Elite league in for example 2007, my team Swindon had the likes of Adams, Richardson, Ullamek, Gedjje and Chrznowski in the line up. Teams actually has 3 heat leaders then.

Since then, pretty much every year, the league has become more and more diluted. Leicester are a case in point. Terrible looking side. However, if you examine the Poole line up this season, there is no doubt this side would have held their own in the 2007 league.

Sadly, there are no other teams that could. I think this tells you loud and clear who will win this year's title. Probably with a record number of points and remaining unbeaten throughout.
