Newcastle Vs Redcar Tyne Tees Trophy Sunday 3rd April

Well I can't see this one anywhere yet so here goes.

According to Newcastle's website quotes from George this is the meeting in full as the abandoned one looks unlikely to be re run.

Can't see why it can't be rerun, Redcar will have plenty of free home dates come late August/early September !!!

Don't start me off on that one as I think its appalling when fixtures are not re run & I believe all fixtures should be run until a result stands, weather the be challenge matches etc or league etc and any clubs not to do so by the end of the season should IMO BOTH be fined!

If anyone can text updates of this meeting to me for the updates site. Can you please send me a pm with your mobile number.

I think Newcastle will win this meeting tomorrow and the leg at Redcar should be rescheduled in an open date during the season,

Thanks

Whilst I fully agree in principle, promoters do not have the deepest pockets as we know in this sport (e.g. Plymouth) and I would hate to see speedway fold in either Redcar or Newcastle, or indeed and team for that matter.

I wonder whether the riders would get paid for Thursday's uncompleted fixture at Redcar? Certainly the spectators will get full credit for their admission tickets so that potentially blows a gap in the finances right at the start of the season even though inclement weather was completely outside control of the promoters

I would be happy to cede bragging rights to Redcar on TTT if it was the difference between financial stability or financial deficit for either club.

League and League Cup fixtures are a different matter and these are non negotiable in terms of fulfillment until cut off dates at end of season.

Just my own view but life without speedway up here would be very hard to take

2nd leg of Tyne-Tweed trophy vanished without trace last year...I would certainly have gone had they staged it, it's my team in live Speedway against local rivals, the winter months are long, and I attended 100% of home meetings last year anyway...

The challenges are billed as a starter to get mechanical issues sorted before the 'real' season starts. Perhaps promoters would make a loss if too many stayed away because 'it's only a rescheduled friendly' - not everyone can afford to go every time unfortunately.

Riders should be paid in accordance to what they scored in the meeting (plus travel expenses etc.).

As the meeting was abandoned after heat 8, spectators will get reduced admission of £2 at a future Redcar match.

Whilst I partly do agree with both posts above I do still feel strongly that if a fixture is put in weather it be a challenge or official one I still think you are charging money for them & not even a reduced amount for a challenge or meaningless match, nor in many ways do I think you should as the costs are the same whatever the fixture, but I do think all fixtures are or (at least should be) classed as official.so there for go in the book as completed not, Not waste of time and can't be arsed to be restaged!!

Just an opinion.

What is the quote from George, I cannot find it on the website

He said: "It was really frustrating because we were riding so well, we would have go to heat ten if we had got a move on during the meeting. There had been quite a few falls throughout the meeting and with the added rain it just would have been too risky to carry on.

"I was absolutely shocked when the referee stopped the race during heat two but Danny done superbly to go and win it again. We will race the second leg on Sunday and that will probably be it because I can’t see us restaging this. We take lots of confidence from tonight and look forward to another win on Sunday."

I hope this helps!

Some excellent racing tonight considering it being a very easy win.

Man of the match for me Stand up Steve Worrall, rewind back about three seasons ago he couldn't stay on the bike when going around bends 3&4 tonight rode like he'd been there all his life well done that man.

Reminds me a bit of a young Stuy Robson when that first started to click in for him!
