Sky Cancel Again

Recommended Posts

No, but you're attacking Sky when this decision to call off the meeting is not theirs.

Had it been theirs, I would have concurred 100% with your post.

I wasn't attacking anyone, merely stating facts re meeting being changed and stating that from NWs post Sky jumped the gun when announcing it.

As it goes if you take as gospel what both clubs and their representatives were saying on Saturday the decision to cancel the meeting as opposed to the televising was made after the Sky announcement. As with anything in speedway the fans, I.e. Paying customers will never know the truth.

Clubs should be taken to task about making event announcments promptly but to have third parties announcing things is not the way to go. It's fixing a wrong with another wrong.

There should be agreed time limits on announcements that clubs abide by.

The decision to cancel the meeting is an entirely separate decision.

If they wish to cancel the Sky coverage, they must do so at least 48 hours in advance as it appears that Wolverhampton did. Wolverhampton still decided to see if it was possible to run the meeting, but eventually decided to postpone.

In this case it appears Kings Lynn cancelled the Sky coverage, again citing that they were uncertain if they could get the meeting on... then subsequently decided to cancel the meeting as well.

Many are saying the weather didn't play a part so it leaves us with the conclusion that following a heavy home defeat.. then running on an off night, Lynn didn't fancy it.

Sky haven't announced anything of the sort.

They merely stated they wouldn't be broadcasting the meeting. Not that the meeting was postponed.

Sky Sports Speedway ‏@SkySpeedway

Due to Monday's forecast King's Lynn v Coventry on Sky Sports has been postponed. So frustrating for all concerned.

How could Sky say postponed unless they knew the fixture wasn't to take place tonight but in fact happen at a later date?

If Buster ran tonight then Sky wouldn't have anything to rearrange. If I've got the meaning of postpone correct.

Well I think the "Elite" league is in one hell of a mess and glad we here at Ipswich are no longer in this pathetic league.

I seriously hope you don't have a promotion pulling out the league after one match throwing the future of one club and it's riders and the structure of the league in chaos.

I mean that would never happen in the perfect PL would it?

Meanwhile back in the real world ALL leagues are struggling.

I suggested this a couple of years back, posting under ones real name, I got shot down in flames in an instant..!!!

Also, back to the Kings Lynn cancellation, if it was Kings Lynn that cancelled, why didn't sky switch to Wolverhampton, they've done it before, and at a lot shorter notice!!

There's definitely more to this issue than meets the eye...

So is that Mr or Mrs Shale Searcher then? Guess your parents were speedway fans or did you change your name by deed poll?

Practice what you preach as the saying goes.

Sky have changed venues at much shorter than this in the past, remember this meeting was posted as off on Saturday afternoon leaving ample time for the cameras to get to Monmore, if they wanted to of course.

Regarding posting under real names, I guess

1 you are not female

2 you don't work directly with the great British public

There are too many weirdos about for me to use my real name and until I retired worked face to face with the public.

Police/paramedics etc only have their first names in large letters on uniforms. Full names are on the smaller not so easily read ID badges,...there are good reasons for that.

I have only ever used 2 names since first using BSF.....Lady Knight which I changed to SL for obvious reasons :)

im actually confused, but my understanding yesterday was this fixture was called off due to a weather forecast? to which

yesterday, i posted just how crazy that decision was. hence, if thats the case i was proven right. its quite ironic

that buster put the blame at belle vue door on opening night fiasco, and has now had this happen!

a lovely night and no speedway.its no wonder this sport is in the state its in. Buster is one promoter i actually like, but

this is one episode that doesnt ring true

Must admit that when I joined this forum I was going to use my full name...

However, I thought about what would happen if, by the admittedly sixty million to one chance, any other members of the club I attend every Friday night stumbled upon here and saw I was a Speedway fan..

I would have had my membership of "Mrs Whiplash's Transvestite and Gimp Mask Club' annulled immediately I reckon...

(If I hadn't already resigned to avoid any more embarrassment that is)!!!😀😁

Assume if stocks were on yesterday with rain about today guess it would have been difficult to rectify track, even though this evening seems pleasant. Having said that, if that was the case that would have been announced <shrugs shoulders>
