snapper
So everyone is putting this result down to Edinburgh's first match but if you add up who many meetings each rider has raced in 2016 I think you will find the Edinburgh have had more meetings that the Glasgow ones. damosuzuki
I'm not putting it down to that. The loss of cook and Sedgeman and the gaining of fisher and Bewley mean Edinburgh are going to be average this season Imo. Etheric however may outperform his assessed average. Clegg today was v disappointing and fisher was unlucky but also unimpressive
Gazc
First of all congrats to em them on the win, i know a win against us doesn't happen very often so enjoy while it lasts. With it being our first match of the season not that bothered about the result, but would of been nice to keep it a little closer than what it was. Sam lead the way like a true number 1. Jye got better as the meeting went on just needs some time. Was unlucky with his exclusion IMO and just rode to tight a line when passed by Garcia. The Germans had the speed but were so poor from the gate it made no difference. The Fish seemed a bit rusty and hitting the tapes and getting a puncture while 3rd didn't help either. Max was very poor should be beating people like Ayres and Garcia IMO. Young Dan seemed to struggle a little at times but will improve with time. Roll on Friday. Not bothered what a load off pash course your bothered or why say your not as i say Masters apart you look a very average to poor side based on what i saw today we really didn't need to get out of 2nd gear today and it was still men against boys. First meeting off the season as a team yes but only our second as a team and the difference in the teams was as wide as a Kappa wearing junkie from Leith if i were you i would be worried at that performance today .

Really with that 1-7 i very much doubt it, And i know how much you hate getting beat from us but that was simply outclassed in all departments today with the exception of Masters plain & simple.
Pinny
Jesus. Edinburgh do look a poor side , the bottom end of glasgows side wont have an easier payday than that.
george.m
Close season all we heard about was Glasgow being top heavy, long tail, etc. No evidence of that today from Glasgow, but definitely from Edinburgh.
Fenway Bleachers
Wait a minute.... Let's see how this Monarchs team performs at home, where Max should be better Glasgow look good but you haven't been away yet.Let's see Danny at the Dale before we salute the second coming. Too early for such bold statements, though you are in the driving seat in this LC group with a big home win for starters.( Berwick yet to start mind)

True but last season you had a good team can't say the same about this one early doors I know but Masters is going to carry this team a lot especially away. You should do Ok at home due to the Armadale factor but up there challenging I'm not so sure. I may well be proved wrong but early indications are I doubt it , but a mediocre season is not the norm so changes will probably happen at some point. Hard to judge on todays performance with 2/3 not at the races at all. Give it another few weeks till the season gets going a bit and then will probably have a better idea of how the season is going to pan out. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Tigers defeated the Monarchs on four separate occasions last season - today was hardly a new phenomenon. Not bothered about the result?! Don't think I've heard that statement when you have won your first match of the season against us in the past. Can't say I share your optimism for the Monarchs as things stand. Masters had 4 good wins and looked fast but was lucky to get a second bite of the cherry in heat 1 when Etheridge decided to test the air fence - Nike was well ahead after an excellent gate and opening couple of bends. Etheridge earned both of his exclusions for crashing into the 3rd / 4th bend fence - I must have missed him riding a tight line. Agent Fisher did his job sublimely - cheque in the post. The Germans probably did as expected - Riss caught a break when Ben shed a chain on the final bend in heat 14. Clegg made a couple of decent gates but was easily picked off - the Edinburgh director who was sneering at Danny Ayres failure to score at Swindon on Thursday night would have enjoyed his performance today. Bewley looks massively out of his depth. I can see why he was advised to wait another year before racing in the PL - not sure how he missed the fence on one occasion and when he did crash was lucky it wasn't worse. Looking forward to the return a week on Friday - maybe since you'll have had a few matches by then the result will matter?

scotchopper
Well done Glasgow, has to be said they were thoroughly deserving of their win today and on the evidence of today are contenders however it was really difficult to really judge anyone on that performance. There were big gaps between levels of riders but apart from no 1 glasgow were better but very early days Dan and Max were just not up to it today and never looked like beating a tiger, it will be a big challenge for Max to try to be competitive on away tracks this year and a tough debut for Dan but he'll have opportunities to come Jye got himself in points scoring positions a couple of times and showed signs of getting points but ended up with nothing. Will be disappointed but loads of time for this lad Nike, Fernando and Danny all made hey against their opposite numbers and put real pressure on Jye when they were behind and looked really good. However apart from heat 1 never looked like beating any of the monarchs top 4 (erik passed garcia very easily in the only other race they were ahead). If I was a tiger i'd be happy with that as if they beat their opposite numbers Glasgow will be the team to beat but no real opposition today. Erik and Ryan did the basics and it was an acceptable first away meeting no silly dropped points against reserves but only impact on the weeg top 4 was ryan in heat 13 before his puncture and then ben barker dropping a chain in 14 and gifting erik a win. Kevin and Richard will both think they should have done better but got all they deserved. Richie, Ben and Aaron all (chain excluded) only lost to Sam Masters, really solid and will be a tough top 3 to beat Sam Masters, a class above them all only Aaron was getting near him, only the graveyard gate 1 stopped him getting a deserved max. Cookie's are big boots to fill but I'm pretty confident he can fill them. Big question for Monarchs is who will step up and fill his role.

scotchopper
So everyone is putting this result down to Edinburgh's first match but if you add up who many meetings each rider has raced in 2016 I think you will find the Edinburgh have had more meetings that the Glasgow ones. ok lawson 6 (1 individual, 1 for Glasgow, 4 for Lakeside) lunna 1 (1 for glasgow) worrall 4 (2 individual, 1 for glasgow, 1 for BV) barker 3 (2 individual, 1 for glasgow) summers 1 (1 for glasgow) garcia 1 (1 for glasgow) ayres 5 (1 individual, 2 for kent, 1 for glasgow, 1 for coventry EL) Total 21 masters 1 (1 for wolves) etheridge 0 wolbert 1 (1 individual in Germany) riss 0 fisher 0 clegg 2 (1 for cradley, 1 for wolves) bewley 1 (1 for Belle Vue Colts) Total 5 Just to clear that up, it's not even close (21-5) then 4 Glasgow riders with at least 2 meetings to edinburghs 1 1 Glasgow rider with as many meetings as the entire edinburgh team How many practice sessions have Glasgow had on their own track 40% (2 of 5) of Edinburghs in the NL vs 9.5% for glasgow (2 of 21) 1 edinburgh rider with his 1st meeting in europe 1 edinburgh rider in only his 2nd meeting ever. Not putting this up as an excuse just an answer to the question above. It's up to Edinburgh and their riders to organise more meetings and be better prepared (I am sure they have had practice sessions and there have been a couple of rain offs) but given the stats above I think the performances today can be put into perspective. Everyone talks about the spring trophy being meaningless and too many matches against each other but normally edinburgh would have 2 challenges before a competitive match and they will need to find a way to address this next year. Thanks for taking the time to do this, excellent research and emphasises what a shame that Friday was rained off . one wee point and I hope you don't think i'm nit picking but since you've gone to so much trouble Danny Ayres hasn't ridden and doesn't ride for eastbourne
