SharpenRake
Sorry gaz but the weather in paisley has got nothing to do with it.where I live it was dry yesterday till about 7pm. It stopped overnight and started again about 8. What's it like at Ashfield don't know but who would have thought last week would have been on. Still over 3hours to go and I'm sure Edinburgh would want to help get the meeting on⛅

damosuzuki
I amin Glasgow and I can tell you all that it is fine and improving. There was heavyish rain at points yesterday, but the winds and at worst drizzle mean that there is nothing like the water around that there was even last week - when the meeting was on. The forecast is brightening throughout the day. Getting ready right now. Looks like a very pleasant April day to be watching speedway!

Fromafar
Well, I watched Berwick race Redcar on a pretty good track surface last night, after a day of rain in the town. Track was completely covered with plastic sheeting from, I understand, 10am until fifteen minutes before the first race. Most of match was staged in light rain, but no problem and a bit of last-lap passing to warm us up. Are covers the way forward? Covers are certainly an aid,but if there is still a fair amount of rain after they are removed the slick tracks nowadays may become skating rinks. So for me it's covers and a fair amount of dirt on track to keep riders upright in tricky conditions .

Panthers89
Glasgow very good side and Edinburgh a very average side this season.
TheScotsman
I'm happy with that start. First match for half the team but weegies still can't beat us by 20. Erik wins heat 14 yet again. Smiler Sam looking like PL number 1 this season. Kaiser Kevin owns Son of God.
MD
Erik wins heat 14 yet again. Barker threw a chain on the last turn to gift it, Riss otherwise not at the races along with Fisher & Clegg. Masters outstanding, Etheridge needs time, Bewley a bit wild but not scared to turn the throttle, looks a decent long term prospect. As lacklustre a derby as you are likely to see, decent crowd, mediocre away support. Didnt miss the Spring Trophy, role on Berwick in 2 weeks and some better weather.
Fenway Bleachers
Good victory for the Weegies who look solid from 1 to 7. Sam best rider on show though Spud not far behind. Sam lacked support and our guys struggled on a heavy track.....but best team won Biggest disappointment though was no leaflet handed out this time on exit!!!! Who pinched the Fucc Enema crayons?????
Dekker
Ouch, but one of the rare pumpings over the last few years. However long season yet to unfold.

damosuzuki
Thoroughlly enjoyed that today, and there was a bit of racing in the later heats. We look a very solid side. Garcia and Ayres impressed again, terrific.
LunnasPerm
Attended my first speedway meeting in at around five years this afternoon, returning to Ashfield to watch the Scottish derby. Ashfield, or the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium, as it's now referred to, has changed significantly since I was last there. It screams professionalism. On the track, it was seven Tigers versus one Monarch. In speedway, there aren't the salaries nor beauty of time to say "never mind, one match". Apart from Sam Masters and to a much lesser extent, Kevin Wolbert, that's is a half-hearted Edinburgh side. Erik Riss' uninspiring afternoon was mislead thanks to Ben Barker's mechanical mishap whilst, if I'm being honest, Jye Etherdige and Dan Bewley looked like they were sitting on a bike for their second and first times, respectively. As I said, I haven't been to the speedway for a while, but I've been keeping an eye on the social media element to it Edinburgh's team building during pre-season, whilst normally impressive, looks to have been completely unorganised. On a more positive note, having the benefit of seeing the pits in all their glory through the stadium's new set-up, that Glasgow side, to a man, were motivating and assisting one another through the heats. Summers was outstanding and Worrall was on-form, but I was disappointed by Lawson, from whom I expected more. Lunna and Barker, had it not been for misfortune, would have extended the winning result. Danny Ayres is someone speedway has been crying out for. A born entertainer. By the way, I couldn't think of a name, so I went for this one. I have no preference to Nike Lunna, I'm a bit old for favourite riders, but went with this.
Gazc
Edinburgh Masters apart were woeful and 37 really flattered them Barker shedding a chain to gift the inept Riss the win in heat 14 rounding his day of more to come from Ben though.Thing is you got the impression that we were in 2nd gear for part off that meeting that is how poor Edinburgh wereMasters however was sublime.More to come from Glasgow though & for Edinburgh don't see this 1-7 being the one that ends the season if it is they will struggle. All in all a comfortable afternoon for the Tigers but sterner tests than today are just round the corner. screm
Impressive from Glasgow, though as this was Edinburgh`s first meeting as a team a home win was always on the cards, that and Glasgow are a better team.

It definitely won't be. Remember they're waiting for their secret weapon, Mitchell Davey. Good grief.
Cj69
Pumped, Hammered, Stuffed...Pick one they all apply. Decent first match in a good stadium and nice weather (only a slight chill in the air and no sign of rain). Glasgow look good with the 'weaker' 3 all chipping in with good points. And top 4 all solid. Impressed with Ayers who looks to be loving it (will certainly appeal to the tiger fans). As for monarchs. Masters superb and easily a number 1. Fish/Kev/Riss/Clegg looked rusty and slow from gate. Jye should do OK decent gate just needs speed (nice to see his fustrations when he fell of after leading for most the race). Dan looks about 13 and can't fault for effort certainly not afraid of throttle just needs more experience. Overall a fare score and form like that should see tigers through in LC but will see how they do at away tracks. Mr Blobby
First of all congrats to em them on the win, i know a win against us doesn't happen very often so enjoy while it lasts. With it being our first match of the season not that bothered about the result, but would of been nice to keep it a little closer than what it was. Sam lead the way like a true number 1. Jye got better as the meeting went on just needs some time. Was unlucky with his exclusion IMO and just rode to tight a line when passed by Garcia. The Germans had the speed but were so poor from the gate it made no difference. The Fish seemed a bit rusty and hitting the tapes and getting a puncture while 3rd didn't help either. Max was very poor should be beating people like Ayres and Garcia IMO. Young Dan seemed to struggle a little at times but will improve with time. Roll on Friday.
george.m
The only satisfaction today entertainment wise was the result. Obviously early season yet for the Monarchs and a wet track didn't help. Glasgow looked strong through 1 to 7 and it'll be interesting to see how our reserves and Lunna fair away from home. If they can at least hold their own with the home team's opposite numbers and injury's aren't too detrimental then it'll be a good season for us. Coty impressed today, so much more speed than last week. Danny - What can you say? He's a legend already. Ben - Bit more speed and quicker starts needed. Nike - Improved on last week. Richie - Growing in stature. Aaron/Richard - Reliable as ever. For Edinburgh, Masters looked superb - very fast and classy. Wolbert - usual Ashfield form, finishing position was the one he left bend 2 in. Fisher - I think this is a step backwards for all parties. Etheridge - early days. Riss - Ashfield form no different from where he left off last year, not progressed to heat leader form at Ashfield. Clegg - ditto. Young Bewley - has got balls, and speed - definitely one for the future. Well done for him mixing in this level of company. Agree with everything Cj69 says above - a very fair assessment. Good to see baba today. But coffee....? C'mon man! Edited April 3, 2016 by george.m
