Kings Lynn Stars V Belle Vue Aces 31/3

Recommended Posts

I really don't get all this defeatist nonsense after one home loss.

I drove up last night because a strong Belle Vue were in town and as a neutral I wasn't disappointed by the meeting.

Belle Vue were superb at gating on a well prepared track and once in front on most occasions they weren't passed.

Agree there will be problems once NKI goes but Kings Lynn aren't a bad team and one loss against a strong team doesn't make them poor. It was a bad night against good opponents.

On Monday they should turn over Coventry without too much of a problem and everything's rosy again, well until NKI leaves anyway.

And there in lies the problem with the elite league this season

You drove up because a 'strong' Belle Vue side are. I have no doubt you will travel when a 'strong' Poole side are in town as well.

And yourself like many other fans will not travel if Lakeside, Leicester and Wolves are in town.

Crowds at the majority of clubs will fall this season. Even if you are a Poole and Belle Vue fan will you go to watch your team thrash others? I know when Ipswich won everything in 1998 i couldnt be bothered with some matches as the result and scoreline was a foregone conclusion.

The farce of the points limit will not help the sport this season

Has the gate & go track come into existence since NKI has been around? I ask because in the days of Topinka it was obvious that he had a massive input into how the track was, so wondered if NKI is the same. If the answer is yes maybe come the return of Troy Boy there might be a bit of grip make an appearance.

As only an occasional visitor nowadays maybe some regulars could comment.

Surely Buster wouldn't prepare a track just to suit one rider at the expense of entertainment and the fans ? I seem to recall Buster saying he was finding it difficult get decent material to work with, and was having to bring it down from The North East, which was costing a lot more than normal ( transportation costs I guess), so could it be he is not using it as freely as he once was.

The only thing we did last night was gate.

We will face sterner tests for sure. Leicester will probably beat us next saturday.

What as happened to Lynn's track???

And what as Joe Jacobs done to Tony steel in the past??

Sshh you can't criticise the KL track!! Buster's an expert don't you know?!

Maybe he works on the track to much especially when it's not needed.

Christ you're a positive soul Starboy!! Can'take give up til the fat lady sings lol

It was a bad day at the office, outgated and ridden in many heats but NKI was our saviour and agree that Kai looks a great prospect, heat 9 was fab

Rob tried his level best but along with the others he made it hard for himself from the gate, but his trackcraft

Just a mention for the long and interesting interview with Cookie, hope his hard work pays off

I tell it as I see it. No more, no less.

Due to a recent prolonged illness, last night was my first visit to a speedway meeting this season.

As a King's Lynn fan, like you all, I want to see my team win, and if I'm honest with myself, I don't think that is going to happen to often this year.

To me though, the most important thing is that as long as we generally see a good race meeting, and there were some good races last night, even though they didn't always go in our favour,

then that's more important than watching us romp home with 5-1's all the time.

In any level of employment, everybody has their own minimum/maximum ability, and you're usually kept on in that employment in a position that suits that ability, assuming you're completely

incapable.

Likewise, when a rider is signed to represent a club, the management make their choices according to the positions available, in the full knowledge of what that rider is capable of

producing, and if that person really is incapable, then you try to replace them.

As the club have openly stated, its been a difficult winter trying to put a team together, and although I personally don't think Troy Batchelor is a good signing, I don't really see what

other alternatives were really out there, that wanted to ride in the UK.

Clubs in all sports have their good years and bad years, just look at Chelsea FC this season, but with the continued support of their fans, rather than the threatened "I'm not going to wastemy money on that", they are climbing out of the doldrums.

So come on folks, lets accept the bad times with the good, and stand united. There are so many things more important in life than the result of a sporting event, so chill out, take it for

what it is, and I'm sure you'll feel much happier within yourselves.

My only real grievance about last night, was once again how long it took to get races on. I agree with Kelvinht, as soon as one race finishes, the 2-minute buzzer should almost instantly goon for the next race, in the same way it does for British Youth Meetings, plus those involving Southern Track Riders and Dragons Club Meetings. I got so cold last night, just standing

around, that I did leave the meeting after Heat 13.

I'm sure I'm going to get bombarded with "What an idiot you are" type responses now, but hey, we're all entitled to our own opinions, and I've just stated mine. UP THE STARS.

I was almost convinced for a moment by your "continued support of the fans" and "accepting the bad times with the good whilst standing united" statements. Then you went and ruined it all by saying that you left after heat 13. What kind of support do you call that?

Oh jesus, let's not flog em when they're down, support the team!

Theres no escaping it Trees - however optimistic you may be , The Aces were very good and the Stars very poor -only NkI and Kai offered any resistance! Mads and Rory have been brilliant for us over the years but last night they were totally outclassed. I know we were consistently out-gated but the Aces were rarely challenged by these two!

Maybe Rory needs to be a non-riding captain before he hurts himself and we need a 'proper' heat-leader replacement. We'll certainly need someone with talent to back up Troy when Niels goes!!

I did not say anything about Belle Vue being league champions because of one away win, I used the words perhaps they might have a bit of success. I have no illusions that Belle Vue will even finish second in this years league table, a lot of changes will be made by other teams before that end.

I agree with one thing said that the reserve picks this year were a complete mess, if you end up with a duff reserve it is virtually impossible to improve that position afterwards.

my apologies you didn't say nothing about Belle Vue being league champions but I would have thought that would be the goal at the start of the season for every speedway club but maybe be I got that wrong also .

not for lynn, lyon put us as 5th in the speedway star predictions? no idea why he couldnt put us 4th so we actual qualify for the play offs. although thats our management for you i guess.

I agree................but the simple truth is a few defeats at home and half the crowd head for the exit and don't come back (and that's not just King's Lynn but most tracks).

There are an awful lot who prefer 5-1's and winning than excellent racing and losing - ask Rob Godfrey about that one.

Well I'm not gonna poopoo them, not yet, we know BV are very strong, we know we aren't as strong, we have favourites racing for us and there aren't any others wanting to race over here, so we either support the team we have or do the other!

No doubt Rory needs time to feel comfortable on his bike, he deserves that time imo.

Rory has rode enough meetings to be comfortable on the bike no excuses for him now

you what ?what a clueless post you have just made - The bloke was within a hairs breath away from spending the rest of his life in a wheel chair from what I was told while he lay on that track in Poland had he sneezed he'd been paralysed he still has metal work in his back and was out of action from May last year .Call him mad call him brave but give the bloke a break it takes ball of steel to ride speedway but to come back from what he's gone through what he don't need is pressure like you just put on him - It could take him most of this season to get back to anything like the rider he was he may never get back to were he was before his crash .

he's done well

Enough in individual meetings to prove he's comfortable enough on the bike and that's my opinion im entitied to one as much as you or anyone else is 👍
