Crazy robin
Lets hope they're not going to do that on a regular basis as weather can always change in this country.
ouch
So Sky think it might be off? I'm getting a bit pig sick of other parties sticking their oar in about the viability of a fixture going ahead! We were planning to go to this but we'll all give it a miss now. stevebrum
SKY are getting as cautious as the promoters and the riders. You can't blame them.
Fromafar
speedway is certainly a dry weather sport nowadays. Many fans don't even consider going if there is a cloud in the sky.Myself included ,better things to do than stand around while riders tell the Ref the meeting is Off.
Shale Searcher
That's ridiculous!! Even the met office struggle with forecasts of T72 This sort of behaviour, calling off, pulling a meeting off broadcast schedules with 72+ hours in hand will be the death nel of speedway.. The sport you cannot trust. Why bother with a fixture list, May as just wait for a dry day or two and assemble teams from riders available on the day!! Pathetic... Wolfsbane
If this goes ahead, after what we've had overnight and is still coming down, it'll be a miracle. They've postponed in the past for less.
mikebv
Maybe Sky feel that they need to take the decision making process away from the clubs? Is it over 100k that I have seen quoted per match to set up their equipment? Many have been the comments on here suggesting that meetings only took place in poor conditions "because Sky was there"... Well they won't be the scapegoats anymore by the sounds of it... And given the usual adverse impact to attendances of a Sky meeting. Will the Promoters be secretly pleased if Sky duck out now and again?

Just because Sky aren't showing this now,why should it stop you from going. If its on its Sky's loss not yours. You seem to cutting your nose off to spite your face.

arnieg
People complain about the malign influence of SKY's presence causing matches to go ahead when they shouldn't, and now they remove themselves from that situation and people still complain. This at least allows the Wolves management/SCB official to make appropriate decisions about whether tomorrow's fixture goes ahead. Just can't win!

MattJ81
Oops!! It's OK, Cradley are due on tonight so your observations are still valid Whether the track can handle 2 meetings in 2 days after the recent weather is probably another discussion
cityrebel
I just think that sky along with the majority of fans are sick of meetings being called off in this country. I planned to go to rye today, but over four hours of dry and windy weather was not enough to get the meeting on. I'm not having a dig at any track in particular, but if the promoters and the riders can't be bothered, why should us fans.
magnificentseven
Sky have decided not to show this meeting now due to risk of bad weather. Any idea what they are planning to show instead? They still have Live Speedway on the programmer and still on their website. I'm not having a dig at any track in particular, but if the promoters and the riders can't be bothered, why should us fans. The Storm meeting at Coventry was on this afternoon after hours of rain on Sunday and overnight. The track staff must have worked wonders to get this match on and unbelievably it was so dry and dusty the water wagon had to come out several times. Just shows what can be done with a bit of effort.
