mdmc82
Sunday March 27, 2016 COVENTRY Storm kick off their challenge for honours in the Travel Plus National League with a home match against Eastbourne on Easter Monday (4pm). The City Gearboxes Storm have been top-four finishers in the last two seasons, and that is the initial target once again if they are to contest the play-offs. A team of improving riders are well fancied to do just that, with new signing Liam Carr having greatly impressed at Premier League level when he scored 7+1 for Berwick at Redcar on Thursday. Opponents Eastbourne were runners-up last season and suffered their heaviest defeat when they went down 32-57 at Brandon on the final day of the campaign. But their hopes for 2016 have already been hit by the loss of new No.1 Kyle Hughes the Coventry asset crashing out of their challenge match defeat to Kent on Friday and suffering a broken leg. In his place the Eagles have called up Ellis Perks a rider with a point to prove as he is set to lose his team place at the Isle of Wight to guest, and will also operate rider-replacement for injured captain Richard Andrews. But they also have plenty of NL experience in the likes of Ben Hopwood and Jake Knight, whilst Georgie Wood is one of the sports rising stars. Coventry boss Laurence Rogers said: Eastbourne are thirsting for revenge for our trouncing of them at the last meeting of 2015 so we should be in for a good afternoons racing. As far as were concerned, I feel weve got three cracking heat-leaders, two lads in the second-string spots who are going to push them, and two reserves who have a lot of potential. These boys are the future, and you only have to look back at the last meeting of last season. The racing was absolutely superb and I think Martin (Knuckey) against Bradley Wilson-Dean was a race which will remain with everyone for ever! Admission prices for Storm matches are confirmed as: All Adults £12, All Under-16s Free. CITY GEARBOXES STORM (from): Liam Carr, Conor Dwyer, Dan Greenwood, Jamie Halder, Martin Knuckey, Ryan Terry-Daley, Callum Walker. EASTBOURNE (from): Richard Andrews R/R, Ben Hopwood, Jake Knight, Nick Phillips, Ellis Perks, Charley Powell, Georgie Wood.
Alex2000
Coventry have a good solid side with good heat leaders and most importantly reserves that have some experience.... Eastbourne will do alright with Knight and Perks, hopefully hopwood back on it with wood providing back up but reserves are just not going to cut it yet and with r/r in play I reckon a 50-40 win to Coventry
Hunters
Sorry to say it but there is not the slightest chance of getting 40 points. With r/r giving one ride to Georgie and the rest to the reserves, it means the reserves have 11 rides between them. They managed 4 points from 18 rides on Friday with two of them unavoidable in heat two's. Barring falls or engine failures they will only get the I point tonight. That leaves the other 4 to get 39 between them against a team I fancy for at least the play offs. No chance! More to the point can they get to 30? Even that is questionable. Woz01
Weather is awful im Coventry at the moment. It is forecast to be dry from lunchtime but the track staff will have a hell of a lot of work to get it in any decent shape.

Gemini
Track looks in better condition than Lucy will no doubt be after a muddy walk in the wood before the match starts.

mdmc82
Well done Eastbourne. Knight & Wood were both impressive. Powell was a liability, has no control. Felt for Coventry having two riders withdrawn. Hope Knuckey is okay after his horrible crash. Meeting was over after we went down to 5 riders.
Hunters
So much for my forecasts, Hope they let me in the stadium for the next meeting. Reading the updates it would appear that Coventry reserves are as bad as ours.
Alex2000
Jake Knight- Brilliant Georgie wood- Brilliant Hopwood- solid Powell- good ending some bad luck, sounds a bit kamakazi but he will learn Phillips- getting there Perks .................... Sign on the dotted line please. Coventry lost two men but let's be honest they weren't going to change the score by that much late on as they weren't having the meeting of their lives. Carr and Greenwood are two good heat leaders but why is terry Daley at no3? Edited March 28, 2016 by Al3x200
Nick Knight
Lol who said we might not get
WembleyLion
So much for my forecasts, Hope they let me in the stadium for the next meeting. Reading the updates it would appear that Coventry reserves are as bad as ours. Nick Phillips and Charley Powell lost quite a few points today by falling when in good scoring positions. I'm sure they will both improve with more track time!
CB252
Carr and Greenwood are two good heat leaders but why is terry Daley at no3? So that Carr can cover Heat 14 and we can rid ourselves of the utterly useless rtd by Heat 12 I would imagine. They deserve the stadium to be empty re-signing Terry-Daley. Possibly the slowest, most inept speedway rider I've ever seen. I'm sure he's a lovely lad, but a speedway rider he ain't.

CB252
I like Ryan but he is not strong enough for the top 5 Let's face it, he wouldn't even be a decent reserve. He's wasting his, and our, time.
