Bagpuss
STARS TAKE ON HAMMERS IN ELITE OPENER Written by King's Lynn Speedway and posted on March 21, 2016 Fresh from their victory over Wroclaw last week, the King’s Lynn ‘Roger Warnes Transport’ Stars will start their Elite League campaign on Thursday night when the Lakeside Hammers visit the Adrian Flux Arena. Rob Lyon’s side will line up with GP star Niels-Kristian Iversen, Robert Lambert and Captain Rory Schlein filling the heat leader positions, with Mads Korneliussen and new signing Kai Huckenbeck completing the top five. Carl Wilkinson, who impressed against Wroclaw, will lineup at reserve alongside Lewis Rose after declaring himself fit to ride. Visitors Lakeside have made changes to their side over the winter and they will start the season with a relatively new look. Swedish racers Andreas Jonsson and Kim Nilsson have been handed returns, along with Richard Lawson. Piotr Swiderski makes the switch from Leicester for 2016 and is joined by Lewis Bridger in the main body. At reserve, Lakeside have former Star Lewis Kerr and partnering him is Robert Mear. Both teams are evenly matched, but the battle between Grand Prix riders Iversen and Jonsson will be an interesting one to watch. The Stars number one has been in great pre-season form and showed last week that he knows the quickest way around the Adrian Flux Arena. Jonsson is also in-form having won the Hammers’ Spring Trophy last week. Ahead of the meeting, Lyon said: “Traditionally Lakeside haven’t been good travellers here but we will take nothing for granted. It’s a fresh season and they will want to come with the attitude to get something out of the meeting. “It was a difficult night last week, the boys didn’t quite know how to react to the track, obviously the weather played its part. Hopefully if the weather is kind to us we will have a more typical Kings Lynn track on Thursday. I would be disappointed if we don’t come away with a win.” Gates at the Adrian Flux Arena open at 6pm tonight. The parade is set to take place at 7:30pm with tapes up for the first race at 7:45pm. Admission prices: Adults £17, Concessions £14, Juniors £5 and Kids under 11 Go Free. The Stars will race in their first away fixture of the season on Good Friday (March 25) as they travel to the Hammers’ Arena Essex Raceway. Lynn will lineup the same for the meeting, but the Hammers will switch Bridger & Nilsson around. Thursday’s Teams King’s Lynn ‘Roger Warnes Transport’ Stars 1. Niels-Kristian Iversen, 2. kelvinht
That's a bit early for a press release, didn't expect that until Saturday (at the earliest) Can't really see anything other that a Stars win at the NA. Lakeside will keep them honest (at times), but should be points in the bag. Wouldn't like to call the away fixture, but we probably need to get something whilst NKI is still in the side

E I Addio
@AFA 48-42 Stars @OPPR 60-30 Lakeside I think you are too pessimistic. The Stars are usually quite dominant at home and Lakeside are not usually good travellers.

semion
If It does rain I hope Buster gives it an early call and not get people in the stadium to stand about for an hour so while he blades all the slope off.

Unlikely as the forecast seems to show rain all day and getting heavier in the evening

Shale Searcher
Hmmmm, the rain is heading your way, but, as it moves east it breaks up and weakens.... Not due to get to East Coast until 4/5pm and on the predicted rain path, it will be much lighter & patchier when it does reach you.... Could well get away with it.. The Voice Of Reason
Good to see a fixture with no R/R's and/or guests! Score-wise, I can't realistically see us getting within 10 points. That said, and with all due respect, Kings Lynn aren't the strongest team in the league (not saying we are either); but if we have serious title aspirations, this a meeting whereby we need to at least nick an away point. Acid test for Tatum's worth - let's just hope he has us all 'jet-propelled'. However, I doubt it.
Hornsey
The first away meeting is hardly "the acid test for Tatum's worth" and it's pretty disingenuous to suggest otherwise. It's a shame you are so bitter about a team you claim to support. The match would have been easier ( for Lakeside) with Batch riding, but we do have a secret weapon with Kerr being able to take extra rides on a track he should know well. I think it will be a tight affair and I would be happy to see us nick a point.

Star Lady
Sensible decision. Been raining for last 30 minutes or so. Far better to postpone now than an afternoon of is it on or not.
