screm
Obviously losing the first two meetings at their new stadium is great, but maybe the Belle Vue promotion should be giving some credit for going for an early postponement, and maybe a lesson has been learned from last weeks events for the grand opening. proud panther
When they do have extensive practice, they should let the public in for free, & try to entice some new fans. With the school holidays next week, it would be a good time to get the kids involved with access to the pits etc.
arthur cross
The past 24 hours on this thread have relentlessly reinforced my long-held opinion to laugh at any comments reported on behalf of Colin Meredith or written by Philip Rising. The moment that joke of a track curator says he's confident about anything, it's well worth reckoning that all he's doing is crossing his fingers and hoping for the best. But he knows his confidence will be faithfully reported by someone who claims to be a professional journalist but instead provides great comedy with his latest desperately poor attempt to cover up the shocking incompetence he ought to be highlighting in the first place as a routine part of his job.
SUPERACE
Been raining steadly all morning in north manchester so no way practice would have happened. Putting Saturday aside which to me was a cock up by belle vue, the issues with this fridays meeting are not. The three promotions in question should not have reported it was off until belle vue did, so they simply we are all at fault. Speedway needs to work together and it should be a rule where the home team must announce any postponement first. The facts are and these are facts up until late yesterday afternoon the meeting was still on. The WHOLE of speedway needs to wake up and realise they need to work together. As for the world cup, firstly the track will be perfect by then, the issue is only minor, its the way saturday was handled thats made it a big issue. The contracters were at fault they've found and rectified the problem, the track now just needs a good testing. Also ticket sales have been excellent so no way BSI will want to refund those. Codswallop. The meeting was never going to be on yet once again Belle Vue were messing folk around. Well done to the other clubs and to the BSPA for calling Belle Vue's bluff and forcing them to behave in a professional manner for once.
Wolfsbane
The one thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Wolves suffer because of this through no fault of their own (for a change ). By the time this gets rerun it's probable that BV will have had several home meets and will be dialled in to the track, our hope of catching them cold on unfamiliar shale tomorrow has gone down the tubes. Let's face it, we need all the help we can get

The three promotions have a right to their fans to let them know what is going on...I'm not going to travel up on Monday if there is any doubt the meeting won't go ahead. I'd like to point out that the Cradley promotion has not released any information about the fixtures and that the confusion came from one fan on Twitter that it was announced at the meet the riders night on Monday! There was nothing official and the man on Facebook could have miss heard or made it up (Doubt it though) The fact is yesterday Cradley said on Twitter that the fixture was on until further information was reported.... So belle vue need to sort this out and stop misleading fans with lack of information...Also the whole debarcle is Belle Vues promotions fault IMO, there was testing meetings for the stadium but not for the track so they got that wrong, and then they got all wrong on the day with the facilities they put on for 6000 people! I think Cradley need to be cut some slack cause they have nothing anywhere through their official media that Monday is off

Facts are the meeting was offically cancelled yesterday evening, the other 3 promotions called off a meeting that they had no right too, the fact it was eventually called off saved thier blushes.

SUPERACE
No doubt you believed you had a burst water pipe too. Whats that got to with it. You think belle vue werent bothered about getting the meeting on. Just accept on this occasion the other 3 promotions made a mistake. LisaColette
How do you know if anything was said privately in the day or so before? I can't believe other promotions would say a meeting was off if it wasn't.

Oh, and to defuse a possible retort, rather than waiting for the Belle Vue promotion to postpone, the unusual circumstances meant that the meeting was always off until such time as they decided it was on. However what isn't a mistake is that all 3 clubs got the information 100% correct.

Cradley made the mistake and both wolves and Edinburgh used that information.
Aces51
Obviously, some have an agenda to pursue but it really is amazing that people are willing to base their criticism on a rumour started by a Cradley fan on Twitter. These people need to ask themselves why, if they had already cancelled the meeting, would Belle Vue make a statement on Monday that remedial work had started and that they would inspect the track on Wednesday, on Wednesday announce that they had inspected the track and would carry out a further inspection later that day and if all was well hold a practice the following day before deciding about Friday and finally that after the further inspection and taking account of the weather today, called it off. What motive could they have, what benefit would they gain? If they had decided on cancelling the meeting on Monday far easier for them just to say so. The the clubs who made the premature announcement are connected by venue, promotion, or in the case of Edinburgh by track curator and riders. They were taken in by the rumour. They should first of checked with Belle Vue, there is no excuse for not doing so and I doubt anyone with an ounce of intelligence and being objective is going to believe that they did, were then told it was cancelled and that Belle Vue having done that continued with a charade of press releases and made up track inspections. The fact the meeting was eventually cancelled is immaterial. What those clubs did was wrong and if the meeting had gone ahead could have had an affect on the attendance. No club should make such an announcement until the home club has made a decision.
