Redcar Vs Berwick 24/3/15

Recommended Posts

6 points up after heat 12 and lose by 4. Isn't that just typical Berwick?

Couldn't Pijper race in heat 15?

By sounds of it and comments on Berwick facebook, Pijper far from well so it seems he did ok? Also Mellgren and Alden struggling with some sort of knocks? So I imagine Berwick simply ran out of steam. Also a fit and racing Jorgensen would have got double figures as per usual at Redcar.

A 4pt defeat, without arguably your best rider, isn't such a bad performance especially for the first meeting of the season. Positives for both teams to take into Saturday`s second leg, where hopefully Jorgensen will be back in the Berwick team.

Early day yet and anything can happen, but teams who billed as a solid 1 to 5 should be able to cover Rider Replacement for their number 1 if they so chose to do so.

Normally yes, but last night Pijper took ill during the meeting, otherwise he would have have covered heat 13, Alden picked up an injury during the meeting, which may have restricted his performance and Mellgren went into the meeting not fully fit so same applies. But top and bottom of it, this was a pre-season friendly, so more important to get match fitness and equipment ready for the proper stuff.

Surely under normal circumstances they would book a guest?

The idea that sides built for strength can cover there missing number 1 with R/R is naive they're still missing the best rider

Some naive comment, perhaps from 'observers from afar'...

Regarding Mellgren. He injured his left knee quite badly at Steve Lawson's on Wednesday, and was riding with it heavily strapped. Hopefully it will ease and mobility return, by tomorrow.

Seb Alden took a wrench on the second turn in Heat 13 and was in pain thereafter.

Theo Pijper was magnificent given his viral infection, and was in distress in the pits after each race. Normally, in a situation such as last night, Theo would have had six rides.

Do posters really think Thomas Jorgensen would have been restricted to 4+2?

Nope, Berwick can come away with a four-point defeat (by a solid Redcar side) with honour and optimism over the overall Trophy destination tomorrow.

Weather forecast looking better now, some rain in early afternoon, but a drier, although almost-certainly misty evening.

That Berwick haar!

Jesus.

Any team leaving Redcar without at least 3 points this season, at least when they have that side, should be ashamed.

Awful side.

Sad to see Anders still struggling - he was set for el stardom before that big crash. Was banging in huge points for rye. Sad to see, cracking bloke and a good racer.

Hopefully was a one off and he can regain his pre injury form.

Had a very nasty injury, not many break their back and ride again, let alone ride and still win races.

Still think redcar are in for a long season, that side looks so weak. Its as if havelock doesnt give a toss. Hopefully a new mob buy him out as its a cracking set up, good track and a decent bunch of fans.

Think one or two are getting a tad carried away with last nights events, as I posted the other day there is no need to get carried away either way with the result from last night at Redcar and tomorrow night at Berwick, these are challenge matches and you can bet some riders will be using them to test new kit and set ups out.
