Pirates Vs Roobins, Ela, 25 Mar 2016, 12 Noon

Helluva foul-mouthed bust up in the pits at the end between Rosco and Morris.

Maybe the kid should get some sleep instead of playing games on his computer half the night/morning - or so I was told!!!!

Whoops. He can play on it as much as he likes before a Poole meeting ;):D

I can see some rival promoters buying him some games!

Just got back from this one and the best thing about the day - the sun was shining. As for the speedway, it was pretty dull. The key thing about the Roobins team is team spirit - well they must have drunk that last night because they were all hungover! It looked like Morris and Tungate had the most because I don't think they turned up.

The other downside was that given the whole stadium - I ended up sitting nearby to Shovvy - don't know how that happened but he was doing his periscope thing with a voice like a fog horn that really was irritating. So not a great day really.

Poole were sharper from the gate throughout and on the face of it, it looks like Watty is potentially the weakest link in the team and he rode pretty well! For the Roobins, Morris and Tungate were dire, Jason did well, Sedgmen deserved more points, Josh improved as the meeting progressed. Poole cleaned up at reserve although Charles was good value and Nielsen didn't continue where he left off last season.

It was only the first meeting for the Roobins but remember most f them have been riding in Australia so they should have been sharper. When the team spirit returns (or they sober up) they should do quite well but they have a long way to go to catch the Pirates who deserved their thumping win.

Do leave off with your uninformed clap-trap gavan. There was some superb racing and passing despite the one-sided scoreline. Bumper sunshine crowd, bumpy first turn but only one Swindon heat advantage.

Superb racing and passing - really? Most of the heats were won from the gate and what little passing there was was coming out of the second bend or the fourth bend - although not too much of it! It was very processional on the whole and that's why the gap was so big - because no one was really gating for Swindon,

Superb performance from all the boys today from start to finish.Sadly, for the others this team will only get better.
Rosco deserves to lay into some of his riders after this performance, they will improve but like Steve0 says, they are a long way off us.
Great bumper star this week, and after the Poole section, hey presto we have two pages of Sponsors... Only at Poole !!!

Just another day at the Poole office !! ;)

why is it claptrap? The elite league looks between 2 teams who certainly won't get beat at home and win by large margins most weeks. I'm an Ipswich fan and we won the league at a canter in 1998 but we thrashed most teams so wasn't exciting to watch. Poole will thrash most teams at home this season so how can it be interesting? The elite league looks as dull as I have ever seen it. This isn't a dig at Poole at all but I'm sure you and the usual suspects like to twist my words anyway. Oh and Steve O says the racing was boring so which was it? . All I'm saying is it looks like a Poole v Belle Vue final and we have hardly had a wheel turned. Not good for the league is it really

you come out with some guff! Enjoy your win enjoy the fact there is only 2 capable teams in the league. If this is how you like the sport then there is no hope. The incredulous bias towards your own side is quite unique

Thought it was a reasonable meeting played out in front of a huge crowd. Men against boys though and Swindon were dire and outclassed for the majoity of the heats. Doyle tried his best but he had no back up and the team doesnt have any other heat leaders so it was mostly easy pickings by the Poole riders.

Saw dartsman Scott Mitchell on the 4th bend in his Holder shirt. Big lad. Looked happy. Not suprising as Noddy showed real class today.

Steve0, was the miserable guy sitting in front of us with his son you? Rather than just sit there moping why didnt you say hello and we could have had a chat. Shaleshifter (Rob) tried to say a few words to you but you cut him dead. Now you know where we all sit perhaps in future if you find my company irritating you can sit elsewhere.

We often have fans from other clubs sitting by us and nearly always its a good laugh with some friendly banter.

Still don't get why we couldn't get a better rider than Tungate to replace North, went from possible top 4 to probable 6th at best, Doyle will do the Adams part, but where's the consistent backup?

Doyle will do the Adams part but like most teams the strength in depth is weak. Poole have a top 5 who are all basically heat leaders, and yes in most other teams in the league Kurtz would fill the third heat leader role. They have the strongest reserve in Newman and the strongest of the number 7's in Ellis. Belle Vue have a top 3 that matches Pooles top 3 and their second strings are marginally weaker and so are their reserves. As I said 2 teams miles clear if the rest and with the standard of riders this looks like being the most mundane of seasons and further evidence how the sport is dying

And before I get told Kurtz average isn't a heat leader average them look at the ability of the 3rd heat leader in the other teams. Belle Vue have a stronger top 3 that Kurtz isn't as good as, but all the other sides (maybe apart from Lynn) he is at least on a par with the third heat leader.

Shows the true attitude of some Poole fans who no matter what feel the need to gloat when they win. Quite sad really. Speedway is the only loser when one team is so dominant but some can't see past the end of their nose I guess. I'm sure they will be happy when the win another title and the sport is at its lowest ebb for many a year. And this isn't a dig at Poole or the team they have built which is quite within the rules it's the fact that the sport is totally suffering and the more clubs suffer the worst it becomes so the need to gloat doesn't show people in a good light

Er, its a sport. The purpose is to win. And celebrate the win. Otherwise what is the point?

Poole win. Poole fans celebrate because Poole won. End of.

What would be the point of winning then not enjoying it?

Your post makes no sense. Poole was packed out today and although it was a complete rout 95% of the fans left happy. Its the nature of sport.

No-one complaining track side. Scoreline explained by Poole being able to get out of the gate, Swindon shocking. Like EL against PL.

Track was watered every four heats and Kurtz got caught out off bend four once. Track was good bar a bump on bend one.

Superb and passing in a few heats yes, the rest gate and go I'm afraid. Poole excellent out of the traps, Swindon asleep. Doyle give it a go, Wright good value although if a tad faster would have scored more, Josh, scored points but nothing special. Sedgemen unlucky to be the meat in a third bend sandwich in the 1st heat gated for his points. Nielsen far too slow out of the gate. Tungate and Morris, should have stayed at home. I wouldn't have thought Swindon could have a worse meeting.
