At Last, 2016 Speedway Regulations Now Available

Several things of note:

 

Start procedure now limits gardening to within the 2 minute allowance. Front wheel spindles must be over a grid line 430mm back from the start line, presumably to make it easier for the ref to spot jump starts. He'll still only be able to see the rider off gate 4 clearly though, and having seen some slapdash marking out of start areas I'm sure there'll be some arguing about the new grid line.

 

EL

 

Averages confirmed as being fortnightly, calculated to include Monday, issued Thursday to take effect the following Monday.

 

3 double up riders allowed with 2 sharing one position and 3 EDRs with the team building average being the higher of the 2 shared in both cases.

 

The no.8 can replace the 1-5 but the restriction on guests to the no.1 only has been extended to the 1-3.

 

PL

 

The 5pt assessed average minimum is confirmed with averages still being issued monthly.

 

The heat format stays the same, but the no.7 is "protected" in heat 4 and can't be replaced unless signed off by the medics.

 

NL

 

Eligibility confirmed as being for British passport and ACU licence holders only.

 

I'm sure there's more but that'll do for now.

Start procedure changed to get riders within 75mm of the start which you never see in the Elite League. Most riders start 200mm plus off the tapes no matter how much you shout at them.

2015:

'12.9 Goggles must be worn and together with spectacles if worn, must be shatter resistant.'


2016:

'12.9 Goggles and/or spectacles, if worn, must be shatter resistant. These must fit the rider and be worn at the start of each heat; their removal and/or loss during a heat is not an offence.'

Middlo is inviting all the Poole team around to his place after P&P on Monday so they can all study the Poole version of the rule book!! :D:D:t::drink:

Which is wondrous news for the whole of British speedway- because the next time Poole are caught cheating( Match at Peterborough when they used a " home average " facility in an away match !!!) they will not be able to trot out the excuse- didn`t know that was in the rule book/ didn`t know that rule had changed ;)

They can still claim it wasn't in the 'Poole version' though :)

What a promoter and/or team manager 'manipulating' the rule book to his/their advantage? What ever next..!

I'll never forget the night a referee tried to explain how ridiculous the situation was getting with the rule book. He pulled out his trusty copy of the Speedway Regulations - then pulled out a huge wad of paperwork that was the 'Supplementary Regulations'.

 

Going just by what's in the book sadly doesn't tell the full story.

 

It would be as useful if the SCB could release the supplementaries during the season but I suspect it might scare a few :wink:

I thought all the supplementary regulations were published on the SCB website last year.

That may be the case and if so it's a huge move forward. The SCB Regulations used to be on sale at tracks over the years, well before the internet age. The point I was making that they didn't tell the whole story because the supplementaries were not made available. . If matters have now changed then that's excellent news.
