Bryn
Indeed it's hard to believe that Deon Prinsloo, whom I sure many will remember riding in the UK, sadly lost his life five years ago today. Reviresco
Bryn, I thought that the car accident that took Deon's life was on 26 Feb 2011 and the funeral was on 03 Mar 2011.
Gemini
Yes it was February 26th 2011. Looks like Bryn is having a bad day today with his facts.
crescent girl
Peter was Deon's uncle. His brother Chris Prinsloo was Deon's dad. Chris also raced, but only in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe in the early '70s.
Bryn
Yes it was February 26th 2011. Looks like Bryn is having a bad day today with his facts. My apologies! Not sure where I got today's date from now but most certainly it would have been on the internet somewhere. Will duly alter my diary dates but fact remains that many, including myself, who had the pleasure of seeing him ride over here will be sad that he's no longer alive. scottyfan
You neglect to mention that it was five years ago. I remember Peter Prinsloo as well. Peter Prinsloo is very active on Facebook.....I sent him a friend request and he duly accepted very quickly. He is looking very well in the photos he posts.
Weedonwight
Having just learned of the very sad loss of Deon I recall back in the late 1980s, when my son packed up riding speedway, we contacted Deon having read in Speedway News he was struggling to get some equipment together. He came to our house and we gave him all the equipment we had at the time. A complete bike with Weslake engine, and clothing. I hope it contributed in some way toward helping his career in the UK. Belated condolences to his family and friends.
