Bt Sports Costs

Recommended Posts

Too right. Watching the to series of Fargo now. Bloody brilliant show. Always adding new apps and looking out for new sports streams away from the main ones which can buffer at times. I used to pay £65 a month for premium channels. Won't pay a penny again.

Also hope to add BTsports coverage as interested in both our sport and rugby but only a passing interest in soccer now given the ludicrous cost of everything e.g. to get into matches, players wages & transfer fees plus it's developed into a non-contact sport where diving and theatrics earn free kicks etc!

Anyway contacted BT yesterday and my online chat, which included me possibly switching from Sky ended with their operator Simi (doing his/her job I know!) ended with following exchanges:

Simi: I recommend our Entertainment Plus + Unlimited BT Infinity 1 + Anytime Calls package. With this you'll get totally unlimited usage and up to 38Mb download speeds. Plus you can watch our BT Sport Pack for FREE with BT TV with all 350 UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches and 38 Barclays Premier League games live and much, much more. You also get up to 27 premium Entertainment channels, AMC channel, up to 80 Freeview channels, catch-up TV and a YouView+ box. It's £25 a month for 12 months plus £17.99 monthly line rental, on a 12 month contract. The TV activation is free and Infinity activation is only £49 with a £7.95 delivery charge that'll go on your first bill.
Bryn: And that will mean me losing all Sky Channels?
Simi: Which channels are you referring to?
Bryn: Sky 1, 2, 3, 4 Sky sports amongst others
Simi: We do not offer these channels. We offer Sky Sports 1 and 2, you can add Sky Sports 1 & 2 for £22 more a month. Or Sky Sports 1 HD & Sky Sports 2 HD for £27 a month
Bryn: In other words on a limited pension it'll cost me a fortune! Thanks for your help, can you please email details you've listed to me at awzv22@dsl.pipex.com please and I'll think about it. Again thanks for your help.
Simi: We are unable to email out, you can email this chat to yourself by clicking on the envelope icon.
Simi: This offer ends today.
Bryn: That's pressure selling surely! I know you're only doing your job but why can't you email me full details of what BTsports and BT can offer me?
Simi: We cannot email out, we are unable to do this, we only have access to the BT Website.
Simi: You do not have to take the package, but the deal does end today, and there is a timer on the website.
Bryn: Well I'll explore other avenues but can't see me switching my existing arrangements to BT and will, with no refection upon yourself Simi, be letting BT know my feelings. Thanks, BRYN
Simi: I understand.
Simi: You're welcome.

Crazy!

Kodi is software for playing live streams (and in fact stored TV programs). It can be installed on a computer but mostly it is used in conjunction with a set top box. These set top boxes generally go by the name of Android or Droid player. They are readily available on Amazon ranging from about GBP50. Here is a description http://www.droidplayer.co.uk/. These boxes come preloaded with Kodi, and this gives you access to all the sport channels across several different web services. The key difference here to Firesticks is that you can connect them to your broadband by an ethernet connection and not have to rely on your Wi-Fi. (The boxes do generally support Wi Fi). I found the reception and pictures much much better when not relying on the wi fi signal. I pushed the broadband service through my house electrical wiring by using TP link. Several other brands are available at various prices.. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/feature/network-wifi/what-is-powerline-3491484/ Mine cost about GBP70, to get a wired broadband connection to my Droid box at the TV. Once you have all this installed there are a miriad of websites that supply live sports channels all the Sky ones and BT Sport as well. As well as individual matches that are listed. I was amazed at the range and diversity of the games available, this week I have watched, the PL match at Leicester, and last night watched Worcester Warriors at Newcastle in the Rugby Premiership. It isnt HD quality, but it is very watchable, especially as I have now removed the wi fi issues, all for GBP 120 ish, Sky previously cost me GBP105/month and that was without BT Sport, the deal that threw me over the edge. Now that all this is available I cant see scenario that will ever stop it. There are lots of other things you can do to mask which country that you are based in if ever someone does manage to stop these streams getting to you I just dont think that it will ever be necessary though, as I was amazed at what you can get. ....... and for GBP 120 why not have a go.

(You do not need a computer to do as I have descibed above, however Kodi can be installed on a computer and all the above would then apply to your Computer!)

Ask Virgin whether they have found Erith yet..... No such nonsense, no messing. All BT Sports channels in the XL package with all Sky Sports channels available as extras should you want them.

BT set pricing simply to get people away from Sky or Vigin's broadband service. They only offer a limited number of Sky Sports channels for an unacceptable fee. When you try to add their channels to a Sky package you have to buy from them, not Sky and they again set huge prices. The ideal compromise is Virgin if you can get it, and you end up with broadband far better than either BT or Sky.

You still have to pay too much but not as badly as the other options.

Of course if Sky hadn't overcharged for so many years to put obscene amounts of money in the pockets of overpaid footballers and their parasitic agents the likes of BT wouldn't be trying to muscle in and undercut them.

Yes, instead of getting ripped-off by TV providers get ripped-off by people selling dodgy boxes that do things you can do for free if you can be bothered to find out how.

Personally i'd give the youtube route a wide berth, its youtubers that are causing major rifts in the Kodi community!

Alot of the add ons will not currently work with "Jarvis" and you may have to downgrade to get them to work.

All the add ons on my box are currently blank (there is a message about Jarvis running on the page ticker) but still shows as Helix 14.2 version when loading.

Cant seem to get anything to happen at moment ?????

Typical of modern society, everyone wants something for nothing.

Parasites :)

They'll all be on the benefits thread on General Discussion moaning about scroungers next!

Anyway, BT line rental is £17.99 a month. Look online and you can get BT infinity 2 for £10 a month. That gets you free BT sport for 3 months, after that it's £5 a month (£8 if you want HD) that also includes a £125 pre-paid Mastercard (£125 cash back in old "money"). So I pay over 12 months £282, which works out at £23.50 a month for super fast broadband, phone line and BT Sport HD. You can't get phone line and broadband for that price from anyone else! The next best I could fine was phone and broadband from TalkTalk for £28 (and the speed is not as great) so I'm paying £3 less and I have BT sport! Also, in November when the speedway season ends I can cancel BT sport and save the £8 a month - thats £32 which takes my average monthly cost to BT over 12 months to just £20.83 :D Now all go and see how much you're paying for your phone line and broadband!

Yes before anyone ask you can get cheaper broadband elsewhere £18 from TalkTalk for a start but it's not as fast and you have to have 18 month contracts not 12 month contracts.

Shop around a bit and it's actually not anywhere near as expensive as some of you think! I actually bet if you switched to BT and got BT sport you'd save money! Ring Sky having a moan about BT sport and they tend to drop a bit off your bill too - I've actually got the full package (normally £80 for £40 for 12 months).

So I'm getting all Sky channels, on demand stuff (including 3D), phone line, broadband, BT Sport all for £68 a month. My parents pay more than that and don't get BT Sport or the movie channels but my mum prefers to moan about the cost rather than switch.

Whoopy doo, and after 12 months you'll go back to the original rate..
