A ORLOV
Thought you had "run of the house" when the new stadium is finished.........? No, the stadium will be owned by Stadia uk and speedway rents the track off them, which is where the one night only falls down.

A ORLOV
Not only for Swindon but also to save costs it would make sense to have two consecutive days, say wed and thurs.
heathen chemistry
what is the point of wanting and or getting the top riders to ride over here. when most of the time they dont try or dont turn up or the track conditions severeley restrict there talents!!!! we need to take two steps bk to go one forward. when poland first started league speedway there fans wanted the top stars as there were no decent polish riders but they didnt break the bank and sign loads of them they were resticted to one or two foreigners per team and they slowly built up thefollowing and slowly built up the quality now its the top league in the world

I would like to see a countrywide scheme to encourage each club to develop their own riders, to the extent where one day all clubs would be made up from local lads. There would be a lot of benefits to this. You look at any successful league and you will see clubs which have a conveyor belt of talent. But to do this speedway needs to develop training facilities, sufficient coaches, equipment, this won't be cheap, but in the long term cheaper than flying in riders from all over Europe on a weekly basis. T.N.T.
Swindon cannot run on wednesdays unless the dog people change their race night, we can only run Mon, Thurs or Fri. The new stadium in 2017 would allow them to race on a Wednesday it appears but if it went to a Thursday night we could see Sheffield move up under certain circumstances and Ipswich either change night or move up under the same conditions like Sheffield if it was just 8-9 home meetings and still compete in a British League in the South group. ? ? ? If you are talking about Swindon have seen nothing about a change in dog racing night so that Swindon could race on a wed, the change from Saturday to Thursday caused the numbers of fans to reduce, another change may do the same again. SteveLyric2
As I've said before, it'll be Wednesday/Thursday plus whatever day Sky want (maybe Mondays) for televised meetings!!!
Shale Searcher
Another problem with the big boys riding in the UK is there isn't even enough of them to distribute them amongst the EL! I personally think you need a minimum of 8 of them, then each EL club could have one each, so you get 8 GP standard no 1's.....  As it is now, there's a huge imbalance of number 1's The EL teams should be built as follows:  number one = A top GP rider numbers 3 + 5 top British riders numbers 2 + 4 top Prem riders number 6 Top tier fast track rider number 7 2nd tier Fast track rider  Number 8 = under 21 New to EL rider, (understudy to numbers 2 to 5)  Not sure what to do with understudys for 6 + 7  Number 1 absentee (guest) Any rider from anywhere or other EL number

A ORLOV
Not according to Orion it didn't. According to him fans soon got used to going mid week instead of Saturday. There was definitely a drop in fans from the visiting team as mid week travel for fans from clubs far away is often not possible, also people made a weekend of Sat at Swindon and Sun at another meeting. theblueboy
Not according to Orion it didn't. According to him fans soon got used to going mid week instead of Saturday. To be fair, his statement is correct. Â When Adams was still riding and before the economic downturn attendances were 2.5 - 3000 every week. In current speedway terms that's a great crowd. Now we get that once maybe twice a season depending on opposition. Â Since LA retired, the continued reduction in quality of speedway rider availability and Honda's much publicised reduction in staff, attendances have continued to decline. Â Would change of race night affect attendances at Swindon again, who knows. There is only one way to find out, however, they will never ever return to this level and it's now too late even if these proposed changes are possible. Â The damage has been done and promoters haves 'fiddled' whilst Rome has burned and, in my opinion, is too little to late. Â Speedway will die a slow death...

Zagar and Zmarzlik = Belle Vue Hampel and Pawlicki = Coventry Iversen and Batchelor = Kings Lynn Jonsson and Bech = Lakeside Pedersen and Kasprzak = Leicester Janowski and Holder = Poole Doyle and Sayfutdinov = Swindon Woffinden and Pawlicki = Wolverhampton   Sky 2nd live match is also on a Wednesday, Kings Lynn v Coventry 6th April. Â Not quite sure what you mean by this being a 'one off two leg event' as it is an Elite League 'A' fixture with the reverse fixture scheduled for Brandon on Monday 11 April (is this being televised too, as it's been moved from the previous Friday?), but of course the first league meeting to be scheduled for Sky coverage is also on a Wednesday (30 March) when Belle Vue host Poole on SS4: Â http://www.skysports.com/watch/speedway-on-sky
Woz01
Sky speedway also tweeted 13th April TBC which is also a Wednesday. Having said that Bees at home v Kings Lynn was moved from Friday 8th to Monday 11th but surely they wont have the same two teams twice in a row. Reviresco
Sky speedway also tweeted 13th April TBC which is also a Wednesday. Â Yes, just seen that, so the first 3 x Sky Sports televised league fixtures are all scheduled for a Wednesday with the one on 13th April currently 'TBC'. Â You can't see this being Coventry v King's Lynn as it's already been moved, and not to Wednesday 13th, and with Poole not having a confirmed fixture for this night and there being 2 x NL fixtures only currently scheduled for the 13th, it looks as if another fixture is going to be re-scheduled for Wednesday 13th April. Â If Sky carry on scheduling speedway coverage on Wednesday nights into May, they will of course have to be mindful of the Danish League fixtures from 4th May onward. SteveLyric2
Sky are getting in early with KL - probably while NKI has agreed to ride until he quits to concentrate on his other priorities?! Â Sky have 5 sports channels plus F1, and no Champions League footie now so are not restricting themselves to Mondays for Speedway!!
