Speedway On Tv 2016

Just turned off the Best Pairs event on Eurosport. Speedway matters when you want someone to win, or at least quite fancy seeing someone lose. But as I couldn't decide between Boll, Nice or Monster, it was pointless.

Have to agree I found it boring and tirned over to the Liverpool Tottenham match because it was meaningless. By the size of the criwd the Pilesalso thought the same.

I had to stand up and switch to the footie as my piles were complaining too!!:D

Seriously, with 3 Torun riders in the final, Vaculik was extremely unlucky not to nick the win from the Monster duo

It seems that sky are making up for the lack of speedway so far with 5 meetings being shown in May. Meetings to be shown are being sorted out now on 4th, 9th,16th,23rd and 30th.

All dependent on no rain being forecast on 2nd, 7th,14th,21st and 28th.

I believe a cloud is now forecast on the 16th putting that one in doubt

Sky Sports Speedway twitter feed now stating that matches will be televised on:

May 4, 9, 16, 23. 30 and June 1, 13 (British Final), 22, 27 & 29

with all recent postponements being replaced and still a total of 25 televised meetings to be scheduled.

(Looking at Phil Lanning's post on the Belle Vue 2016 Thread regarding Dave Gordon's interview on BBS Radio Manchester indicating that the situation is 'on hold' at the NSS until at least 25 April, this must bring into doubt whether Sky Sports will televise the scheduled Aces v Poole match on 27 April.)

I see on the news UEFA now have doubts about awarding BT the screening rights for the 3 years of Champions League football as viewing figures show its gone down from 5 million to 1 million.

Should have thought about it instead of just grabbing the highest monetary bid, greedy greedy.

I wonder if the speedway viewing figures will go the same way.

Someone somewhere sometime is going to have to realise that viewers only have so much money to throw at pay tv channels, and perhaps it has reached saturation point when viewers are saying "no more".

I see Sky are offering new subscribers to their channels a free LG TV, or vouchers for the likes of M&S (I think) plus other incentives, whilst at the same time putting up the rates for existing viewers. Many existing customers are up in arms about it, One person says he was enticed by a good deal for a 12 month period, but after 3 months he has been notified his service charge is going up - not a happy bunny.

I told the wife that we could be cancelling our Sky tv package come the end of October. I have far from the whole monty of packages, no sport package, no film package, just standard package with 2 viewing packs plus it doubled onto the tv in the bedroom, but its still a fair wack, and I am prepared to go back to Freeview for the winter period and decide what I do next April.

Was'nt many years ago that if you stayed loyal to a business ie car insurance, you got rewarded with a discount. Now you dont, in fact they raise the premium highly.

Now every year for my car insurance I use one of the search engines to find me the best insurance rate available. Interestingly it has for the last 3 years come up lwest price is my current insurer, LV, and the internet search has been lower then what they write to me with, so I just ring them up, say I want to stay with you but only at the internet price. No problem sir!

Pays to shop around these days, something that oldies did'nt do at one time, and I suspect many still don/'t ie gas, electric, telephone charges etc

I am after a bit of a favour from as many as possible Speedway fans that have their TV provided by Sky and have a sports subscription

We need as many people as possible to go into catch up on their Sky box then select Sky sports scroll across to more or by day. We need you to then download the TV match from Wednesday once it's done just watch a min of 1 minute then you can delete it again.

The purpose of this is the On Demand team are doing a review of the catch up service as its not possible to have every programme on there . They are monitoring the amount of downloads that are being done of each programme and we want to make sure that Speedway continue to be available on demand.

Thank you very much everybody that has already done this and it can be continued to be done until next Wednesday.

The figures for the opening match were encouraging considering up against FA cup football on BBC 1 we have seen quite a bit of time shifted viewing of the Speedway e.g viewers watched the football live but recorded the speedway then watched the Speedway back later on Wed or on Thursday

If Sky carry on with Wednesday meetings, then I certainly need to record those meetings and watch later as most Wednesdays I'm at Wimborne Road!! :-)

Watching a meeting that you've recorded is better than on 'Catch-up' or On Demand 'cos its quicker to fast-forward the bits you don't want/need to watch in detail....!

Just seen, during the HT interval in the Budgies v Black Cats match, the BT Sport trailer for the start of their speedway coverage with Suzi Perry in a race-suit at Arlington - "Things are about to get dirty on BT Sport."
