RobMcCaffery
Some good racing compensated for the format/ I did struggle to get into it though. I have to offer congratulations to David Rowe for a valiant and highly professional attempt to convince me that it was important whether Fogo Power or Nice Racing won. I'm sure the Polish sponsors and Monster must be delighted - the riders' names certainly played second fiddle to the team logos on the captions. Ultimately it's really just an exercise in Polish corporate marketing. Thankfully we got some racing as a bonus. Okay, I admit it, I'm devastated at eport2000.pl's failure to make the final.....again Incidentally, you may be interested to know the lines of business that some of these firms deal in: Fogo Power - generators, Nice - Home automation (actually an Italian company), eport2000.pl - automotive accessories, Trans MF - trucking, Boll - car chemicals, - or maybe not. Okay that's my insomonia cured - I hope yours is too zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Edited May 6, 2016 by rmc

Bavarian
I left the Stadium after heat 21, neither disappointed, nor excited, by what I had seen. It was a bank Holiday here in Bavaria, so it felt like a Sunday afternoon. Nice weather, good crowd and a very well organised meeting by the OneSport Crew. Monster Energy is already deeply involved with this Best Pairs series. Funny how quick the SGP/SWC main sponsors havee taken to the OneSport event. Anyway, I can't be bothered about if Monster of Nice or Fogo or who ever wins this meeting. I was not keeping score and not filling in the programme, and it felt a bit strange. Something was missing. It is clearly not enough to just watch four riders race over four laps. This alone does not get me excited. There was not a lot of overtaking, and it was quite windy and dusty at times, so the crowd did not really get excited by the track action. But to be fair, there were some good heats, such as Huckenbeck defeating Hancock, and a particular good battle between Laguta and Iversen. Yes, the crowd was behind local hero Smolinski, who, on his Bundesliga home track, rode as good as we expected him to be. Had seen enough after the regular 21 heats and left early, thus avoiding the traffic jam which ususally occures after the end of meetings at the Landshut track. Had seen enough after the regular 21 heats and left early, thus avoiding the traffic jam which ususally occures after the end of meetings at the Landshut track. It should have been your local highlight of the season so that's sad, albeit understandable. I do suspect there's more to the switch from 'national' teams to sponsors' than has been put into the public domain. I wonder if the FIM were unhappy with the close resemblance to an official revival of the World Best Pairs? Although it wasn't his only passing move I think we can see why Martin Smolinski specialises on the inside line after seeing him on his home track. It always depresses me to see racers bravely opening the throttle and going for the outside pass only to find the track won't allow them. While there was some 'outside action' I felt too much of the passing at Landshut came from riders sneaking through on the inside taking advantage of rivals' errors. It would be unfair not to concede that the final few races were entertaining but it does take much away when you don't care who's winning. eport2000.pl's day will come! Trees
Watched most of it on Tv, would much rather watch proper World Pairs tbh, if Iversen and Huckenbeck weren't in it I wouldn't bother tbh ....

Nor me, I just cheer for whoever gets in front of the Monster lot so I don't have to see the ridiculous antics with the drink containers and catch a glimpse of the bearded hippy guy pretending to be a teenager

RobMcCaffery
I read an article where One Sport were claiming that they could build this tournament into something resembling Moto GP or F1. Well, you can't fault them for aiming high. Apparently the sponsors are delighted with it. That makes it all right then...... F1 "rides" in Dubai as well, they can make a month of it with WSL starting, F1 in the middle and then SBPC topping the cake!

I expect it would work in Dubai with plenty of hype - at a similar budget to F1 and WSL for starters. As for in established speedway countries you need to impress more than the sponsors and supporters starved of star name riders like Croatia, Germany.......or Britain.... If it does grow & I see no reason why it may not, the brands may become bigger corporations, especially if they're trying to crack none speedway related countries. The brands then become necessary. If done well over then coming seasons it could be a winner.

You could have plenty of new concepts for the sport, but the sport needs ones that benefit it, not outfits like One Sport that feed off it, pretending to be offering benefits to the sport. With the exception of Monster those brands are currently largely irrelevant outside Poland. Yes, it may grow, if they can find people dumb enough to become fans of corporations not their local teams or their nations. As for whether it could be of any benefit to the sport rather than One Sport and their corporate clients I really can't see it! Are you calling fans of MotoGP's Movistar Yamaha, Repsol Honda & Monster Yamaha Tech 3 dumb?? There are many millions of fans that follow & support team brands rather than just the individual riders, don't see how or why Speedway should be different. Speedway soon could actually be more interesting with engine manufacturers Monster GM Redbull Jawa McDonalds Gerhard Google Godden Lets give it a couple of seasons & see what happens I say
