The 2016 Speedway Best Pairs Cup

Recommended Posts

Speedway soon could actually be more interesting with engine manufacturers

Monster GM

Redbull Jawa

McDonalds Gerhard

Google Godden

Lets give it a couple of seasons & see what happens I say

Some of us have been waiting for SGP racing teams since 2004 atleast, some even longer. They are still individual efforts.

The GP's will always be individual. I'm treating the pairs like the F1 Constructors championship but the current sponsors as mentioned earlier are nonsense except for Monster but it could change.

I'll give it a chance

There's been several racing teams (two riders a team) in the SGP. They've just all faded away...

You could have plenty of new concepts for the sport, but the sport needs ones that benefit it, not outfits like One Sport that feed off it, pretending to be offering benefits to the sport.

With the exception of Monster those brands are currently largely irrelevant outside Poland.

Yes, it may grow, if they can find people dumb enough to become fans of corporations not their local teams or their nations.

As for whether it could be of any benefit to the sport rather than One Sport and their corporate clients I really can't see it!

I think its good that they get new companies into speedway. What would be a benefit for speedway?

Two of the teams are German 'financed' - 'City Team' and 'Trans MF Pro Race Team.' Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, both of German backers assumed that the series would be shown on Eurosport in Germany, but this proved not to be the case. I therefore can't see them wishing to be involved next year if the situation persists.

With the exception of Monster these are Polish and German businesses. many of which were already involved.

One Sport's propaganda seems to be working well.

Apologies, I hadn't realised they weren't all Polish. It does show how these businesses' dedication to the sport is skin deep though.

Ultimately it is up to individuals whether they believe that 'corporate speedway' is the way to go. It might bring some money in .... for some.... but I simply do not trust what is going on here. A lot of people seem mesmerised by One Sport's spin but then you can fool some of the people all of the time.

So, are you calling fans of F1's Ferrari, Mercedes & Redbull dumb??

Are you calling fans of MotoGP's Movistar Yamaha, Repsol Honda & Monster Yamaha Tech 3 dumb??

In most cases the teams long predate the sponsors, or are actually vehicle or engine manufacturers themselves. There has also never really been any distinctive club structure in those sports to start with,

Although I do follow F1 and to a lesser extent MotoGP, I'm largely oblivious to the sponsors. It used to be interesting when cars were mobile fag packets with 6 wheels and you had Scaletrix models of them to race yourself, but just can't excited about mobile pop cans in the same way.

For me It'll always be about the riders involved, I certainly don't like the "Best Triple" aspect of the competition.

Whether it will ultimately appeal to non speedway fans, easy to recognise colours, faceless rides, I don't know. One sport are trying to tap into riches, we'll see eh.

Or my post 212 on the previous page ;)

I don't normally read your posts as they are copied and not transated from polish, which is a Slavic language.I generally go for Germanic, languages(german, danish, swedish),which are languages that share some common relationship to english
