SCB
Trying to worm your way out of it now. Discusting. Its in writing pal, you.ve done the damage. Sidney got it, you don't seem to. The thread title was meant to cause outrage and be a stupid comment to annoy people that I have no plans to justify. Just so I can call people biased and thick. Most people have got it, it's no shock that you haven't. I guess I could have called him a "nice, honest man with the utmost integrity" and people would have been equally as shocked! Woz01
If people choose not to go and watch speedway due to a supposed comment from Cook they need to grow up a bit. Cook and other promoters have been called all sorts in the past and that's all ok I suppose, but as soon as he says something some people don't like all the toys are being thrown out the pram. The promoters are in charge of running the sport they shouldn't be attacking the very people they are hoping to attract through the gate. As they have a position of power, damn right they should get criticised for every poor decision or statement they make. This is another one. In another sport he'd have some sort of punishment but I guess nothing will happen here which in itself is double standards as riders have to abide to rules in normal and social media. PHILIPRISING
I haven't seen Speedwáy a Star yet either, and won't see it until tomorrow so I might comment then. In the meantime the following points can be made without seeing the article :- 1. Speedwáy Star has something of a track record of publishing misleading/ half baked information so you raise a good point in questioning the accuracy of the report. EXCUSE me if I take issue with that remark. As in the case of Jon Cook, and others, we are simply the messenger. If you don't like the message, don't blame SS. Why would you want to question the accuracy of the report? It's what he said.
E I Addio
So stupid is ok, retard isn't? You do realise they mean the same thing right? I guess if you're a retard you may not realise that. Not often I agree with Sidney, and even less with Starman but thinking about it they have IMO made a point. Without wishing to get on a moral high horse mental illness is not a laughing matter. To be mentally retarded refers to a specific medical condition of intellectual impairment. Those afflicted by it can't help it. It is not the same as calling someone stupid. You can do better than that . There is a separate heatleader list thread where the matter could be properly aired intelligently instead of using that sort of term. I am not going to bang on about it but it woukd be a good idea IMO is you deleted this thread and continued the discussion in a more appropriate way on the heatleader list thread.

It wouldn't be the first time that the accracy of SS reports has been questioned on here, but that doesn't mean that the report in question is necessarily right or wrong, but if you look at Grachans post in context I do think he was right to raise an eyebrow. A retard is someone born with a mental condition. Exactly. That is the point SCB chooses to ignore.

Cook and other promoters have been called all sorts in the past and that's all ok I suppose, but as soon as he says something some people don't like all the toys are being thrown out the pram. No they don't have to 'grow up'. They simply take their business elsewhere. Besides, even if they did have to 'grow up' they are still not attending anymore.. who loses out? Cook and the sport of speedway do. Not often I agree with Sidney, and even less with Starman but thinking about it they have IMO made a point. Stop trying to deflect the issue away from your beloved Jon Cook making an utterly foolish comment. One in which any other sport he would be disciplined for. One that can ONLY do damage to the sport and lose fans.

wealdstone
Seems to me you can say anything you like and be as rude and offensive on here and get away with it. That is of course unless what you say can be construed as remotely anti Kings Lynn.
damosuzuki
SPEEDWAY IS NOT FINISHED IN THIS COUNTRY. It needs work but there are people doing it. What is ******d is the Elite league. Because it's run badly with loads of mental rules. And because people seem to think if our country can't get the very best in the world it's game over. What a load of bollocks. That's like saying Football is finished in Germany. If people stop going because someone's insulted them, or because Tai Woffinden isn't riding for their team are they really Speedway fans? And here's hoping Speedway doesn't become like so much else these days, populated by people who's only aim is to be offended.
TonyE
Another fine mess! Certainly, injudicious remarks by JC (if accurately quoted) and a 'provoking' thread title by SCB. The difference being, perhaps, that JC was not specifically insulting a named individual - whereas JCB has posted potentially libellous comments in the public domain. I have been following speedway long enough to be immune to the actions of promoters and just concentrate on watching four blokes give it their all on an oval circuit.
hagonshocker
What about Jon Cook's sick comment? http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=80692&page=10&do=findComment&comment=2727910 It wasnt sick assuming you are referring to the article in the Star...it was bloody insulting and ridiculously misguided...rather like SCB's post and needless use of the R word...uncalled for..in fact hateful...would have thought he would know better

That is of course unless what you say can be construed as remotely anti Kings Lynn when you are immediately banned by one Lioness.!!!!! Why would Lioness ban anyone for anti Kings Lynn comments? She supports Glasgow. Anyway she's not been a mod on here for ages so if you want to say anything rude or offensive carry on.

Popular Post spin king
A retard is someone born with a mental condition. Retard or describing someone who Retarded is totally and utterly outdated and speaking as a Father of a son who does have a mental condition from birth I would punch anyone on the nose if they described him as retard and you would have his brothers closely following behind me. In the case of SCB's comments he is clearly trying to grab people's attention and has used the terminology for that, its blindly obvious that Jon Cook does not have some mental condition, and SCB is basically insulting Jon Cook for the insulting remarks made by Jon Cook. Putting it all into perspective, I see nothing wrong with SCB making the comments to Jon Cook, after all Cook started the argument.
