Woz01
As I put on the Coventry 2016 thread Rugby council leader confirmed talk have indeed taken place. We were told we would get and update around Christmas hopefully they will. Wouldn't be surprised if the site was near Brandon or along the A46 at least. I'm not sure if the suggestion of a share with Wolves was a serious one or not, but it's a non-starter anyway with Ladbrokes firm that they want only one speedway night a week, so unless either Wolves or Cradley move on there'so chance. Besides which, who in their right mind would want to tangle with the motorways around Birmingham to get to home matches? The track share was to be with Leicester if its needed. No-one takes any real notice of what he says. .....woz01......The track share was to be with Leicester if its needed. I don't know what would be worse ~ tackling the M6 or watching Speedway on Leicester's track. Edited December 16, 2015 by Gemini
Tsunami
Oh the irony !!! You can say that again. Love you too Dave. Seems that irony is catching.
Starman2006
It night be Coventry's best bet but it wouldn't be mine, either short or long term as Wolves don't allow dogs and I wouldn't go without my trusty companion. It's beginning to look like Brandon or nothing for me and I won't be the only one either. Probably not, but I think that could be your best option, at least you will still have speedway. But i'm sure you'll take no notice of this post !!
Gambo
Extract from a recent Coventry Telegraph report regarding CCFC and a new stadium:- Coventry City FC chairman Tim Fisher said he could not comment on the progress of the stadium plans in order to avoid “prejudicing” negotiations. Coun Stokes added the council had spoken with Coventry Speedway bosses about finding an alternative location for a stadium, with their existing Brandon home set to be converted into housing. However, he said that was a very different prospect to finding space for a new home for the Sky Blues. He said: “A major stadium that might attract 30,000 people some day is going to be more difficult than a stadium that will attract a couple of thousand for speedway.” Full text here:- http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/no-new-coventry-city-fc-10595559 ATB Dave
Gemini
Any old field would do as long as the track is decent. Speedway fans aren't that fussy about plush surroundings and an all seater stadium. According to SCB we all pack up our flask, blanket and seat when we go anyway. (He's right.)

Yep, keep it as minimalist as possible and then the promotion can reduce to full adult price to the senior citizen price!!
Stoke Potter
Assuming a plot of land can be found who would be financing the stadium build?

Gemini
Assuming a plot of land can be found who would be financing the stadium build? Presumably Mr Sandhu being as he always promised to build a stadium before demolishing the one at Brandon? He's a man of his word isn't he? Shame he can't just leave us where we are and build his houses in the field they may or may not have found. .....Starman2006........I know it was. And i also pointed out then theres the rent. Fields don't come cheap. Why would a field be rented? They're not going to graze Sheep on it. Surely the 'field' would have to be bought being as there is going to be a track, stadium and car park built on it so it's no longer a field. Bees_Man
I'd make the most of watching our poor 2016 team as can't see another bring around the year after!

oleoleole
If Mr Sandhu is behind the re-location then presumably it will be for speedway and stock cars? If so the stadium and facilities will have to be far grander than Leicester (for example) to cope with the larger stock car crowds and associated space for all the race cars and transporters. Is it foolish to hope for something exciting to come out of this sad story?
Gemini
Is it foolish to hope for something exciting to come out of this sad story? Yes. When Mr Sandhu has got his millions from housing he won't be bothered about a couple of sports. Remember he bought the stadium in the first place with the intention of building houses on the land and Speedway owes him nothing the way he was treated when he wanted everything to be fair and above board.

Is it foolish to hope for something exciting to come out of this sad story? I believe him and Jeremy Heaver have a license to run Stock Cars. They think they will get a crowd of 10k+ at the end of the 2016 season. Its makes them money im sure so I do believe they have the intention of a new stadium, its one thing having intentions and quite another delivering it. Yes. One thing about business people they always want to make more money. A new stadium could still prove lucrative for someone like Sandhu.
