GWC
Poole never signed GB riders when Middlo was in charge so it's a predictable trend. Historical lack of junior speedway that produces riders that have ability and confidence to ride a 500 cc bike when they get to 15 and not spend years wobbling in the national league - BSPA take most of the blame as do many tracks. The volume of riders would also be greater and therefore more likely that some will break through quicker. Is it any surprise that Australia Denmark Poland and Sweden have more riders at 19/21 in the top 100 than the UK. We are seeing grass roots of training now so let's hope in the next 5 years we see positive results. Finally attitude is a major part of any riders make up and that sometimes seems to be a challenge for the GB boys.
spin king
Agree with most about the two jobs completely different and the team he chooses for Swindon should not have any bearing on whether or not he should be allowed to continue being the National Team Manager. Â For me the jury is out on whether or not he is the right man for the job, he has made real mistakes while been the Team Manager.
June01
Given the lack of assistance for the position we're lucky to even have anyone willing to give up their time and effort to fill it.
ColinMills
being GB manager is a part time job, and 100% separate from his Swindon job
Humphrey Appleby
Best manager of all-time for the Wiltshire club. Â That's not really the highest of endorsements...
KIRKYLANE
I do not believe that Roscoe was not part of the team build for Swindon and therefore there is a link. Â It does send a signal out regards the make up of the Swindon team of which I am Sure Roscoe was part. Â Therefore the question is a legitimate one. Â We all have our own thoughts on the merits of Roscoe and his abilities of being the GB team manager
Robert Lee
Swindon have now named their full team. Â 1 - 5 are all Australians which is Swindon's prerogative to choose and I have no problem with any of those riders, Â What signal does this send out and is it time for Roscoe to step down as GB team manager and let someone else come in ? Â And pass the poison chalice to whom? A virtually unpaid, totally unrewarding and unappreciated dead end "job"!Suitable willing candidates step forward..... Odds On
how about a team manager with a bit of British passion about them, Screeny, Havvy or even Scott Nicholls, would rather have any of them than a team manager who comes across as being more important than the riders themselves.
GWC
And pass the poison chalice to whom? A virtually unpaid, totally unrewarding and unappreciated dead end "job"! Suitable willing candidates step forward..... If that's the case then no wonder GB speedway has fallen so far behind the other nations. 12 Aussies against 6 GB riders in the Elite sums up the BSPA and their youth policy of the past 10 years but I guess the advantages that a country like Denmark have had via government funding for development puts a Different spin on it. billybikespeedway
is the GB's Team Managers Job restricted to British Guys, Could we not have Tony Rickardsson for instance, other sports do eg Welsh Rugby and didnt England have Sven Goran Eriksson just a thought
Aces51
Yea Havvy and Screeny one brain cell between them and don't forget the British passion Scott Nicholls shows by not riding for them . They can't all be academics like Roscoe. His understanding of the rule book, his mastery of tactics and his erudite comments and deep analysis of events are obvious for all to see. His motivational skills, particularly apparent during the play off semi finals last year, can only be admired. SCB
What have Screen and Havvy won as team managers ?If you're going down that route you've just employed and/or Peter Adams! I'd not have Screen or Havvy there though. If I was going to have a motivator, Dave Norris would be my man
