Belle Vue Colts 2016

In effect it is still a training league because it puts new riders in a league meeting situation properly for the first time and it gives them an idea of what it's like ect ect but they get paid..... Sometimes. It's not a development league in that someone can just jump on a bike and ride in it you have to have some sort of bike experience.

But it's official title is 'National Development League' and it is named thus as it is meant to be the entry level league dedicated to the training and development of young home grown riders.

I haven't made that up, the quote in my previous post was extracted straight from the 2015 Speedway Regulations issued by the SCB and it doesn't change because your opinion is that it is not a development league. Development does not just happen from novice level.

Actually, a rider's first experience of 'a league meeting situation' has to be in the MDL or NJL. Very few - only those with extensive grasstrack etc. experience - can go straight into the NL without a year or two in the Development Leagues.

Surely the NL must include an age restriction for Reserve riders in the future. Even John Louis was only 28 when he started out in speedway.

I would support a 21y.o. age limit on the #6 & #7 slots in the teams in the NL. It's different to a ban on riders over 21 starting off in the sport like people are intimating It's simply supporting the future generation of youngsters that Great Britain needs.

By all means let over-21's start off in the NL, but in the main body of the team, even on an assessed 3.00 average. There are plenty of other sub-4 averaged riders in various teams' 1-5's. Hopefully the extra maturity that the older newcomers will have will allow them to adapt to life in the main body of the team, thereby protecting the younger riders in the reserve team slots. At the end of the day, if they are good enough they will cope.

With that sort of rule you wouldn't get fairytale stories like Danny Ayres.

Age discrimination

The Equality Act 2010 makes it unlawful to discriminate against employees, job seekers and trainees because of age. For example, this may include because they are 'younger' or 'older' than a relevant and comparable employee.

so no way will that ever get passed now it's the law

Speedway ignores laws/rules like that. Think about the original NL to PL double-up rule that was restricted to under 25s which surely breaks the law by preventing riders over that age by earning a wage in both. Simon Lambert at the start of last season is a good example of this.

The word Development in National Development League is the most important word in British Speedway, because without it the UKVI would not allow non eu riders a visa to come to the UK. It shows as far as they are concerned British Speedway have a planned development route to allow progression through the speedway ranks for British riders to ultimately replace the riders currently requiring a visa.

sotty to ask this question here but, are the Stock Cars moving to the new track or are they staying put at the old one.
