SharpenRake
Last year imagine most people happy to pay £15 entry, 2.50 proggy,£4 food/drink, £3 raffle etc. So around £25. This year could still spend c£25 but cut back on the extras. Edited November 26, 2015 by SharpenRake
Ben91
A pound per heat at this level is more than enough. Especially when you factor in the lack of other entertainment on offer at most meetings. Over a pound per minute of entertainment is terrible value compared to other activities people could be going and spending their hard earned on. Tapeworm
Would you really leave your car in an unprotected area in the area around Ashfield, I bl**dy wouldn't. Top tip - Always park beside a smarter car than yours.
Tsunami
Is that not the one that costs 4 quid?Over the road it's free. It wasn't £4 the last time I was there.
scotchopper
I have never paid to park at ashfield and (touch wood) the only problem I ever had was when i parked over the wall at apex of bends 3&4. Returned to find the car covered in shale I think £17 is too much I said last year when it was introduced at Armadale and say it again now, to jump from £15 to £17.50 is a big hike and £1 extra to sit in the stand is totally taking the mic. Now what Edinburgh did was have an advanced ticket discount bringing the price back to £15 which I think is the right price, hopefully that is still available. Will be very interesting to see what our prices are, only season tickets out so far. We had poorer than average crowds at the start of last season after having a brilliant season before and I suspect that was because of the price increase so hope they have learned. The new rule about home teams not paying away riders means successful teams will cost more so maybe it is protection against that. Another example of speedway promoters letting self interest get in the way of the good of the sport.

damosuzuki
At the end of the day everyone knows the facts. Riders are having to ride for multiple clubs to make a decent living, Equipment costs are huge compared to non-motorsports, Speedway clubs lose money in the UK, the stadiums are the pits. Glasgow have a beautiful stadium, lots of entertainment and a quality side. But if it's not sustainable it's not sustainable. Glasgow season ticket is same price as edinburgh. IE £15 a meeting. Paulco
The point was made earlier in this thread about the admission price at Glasgow being dropped to £15 last season making the increase for 2016 to £17-50 all the more eye watering . But what do we do ? We love our speedway , so there's no alternative but to pay the hike .

Popular Post george.m
Not for me to justify to others the price hike. After all I don't know others disposable incomes nor personal circumstances and to do so I can only judge by mine. I feel it's wrong to do so. In respect of the size of increase. Relative to 2015 it's large. No arguing with figures. However, if 2015 had been £16 or £16.50, then it wouldn't be the same hike. So those of us attending last year got the benefit. Or is that forgotten? Taken for granted? As for the need for more revenue, the new promoters invested a small fortune in upgrading the stadium at very high risk. Reality is, if they sold Ashfield tomorrow they would recoup very little, if anything of that money. They also invested in putting on a more professional show and additional entertainment. It must have cost a small fortune. At the end of season meeting, they said 2016 would be even bigger and better. Time will tell. It's their issue if it's not. But I for one am prepared to have faith in them until they do something to change that. People talk only of them as pumping in money. From what I've seen and heard the Facennas work damn hard. They're not afraid to get stuck in and get their hands dirty. Not forgetting the volunteers. They've put sweat in as well. If they have money they've earned it and can do the hell what they want with it. To all the petty minded, nit picking, non Glasgow supporters who criticise them - you wouldnt last a week working with those boys. You'd be bitching about working conditions just like you bitch about your team not having good riders in 2016 because of Glasgow. Where's your credentials? The money that's gone into riders is small fry compared to the stadium. It's only yourself your kidding on here when you say otherwise. So if they chose to charge more, that's their decision. If they've got it wrong, then it's their problem. But one I'm sure they'll fix. Edited November 26, 2015 by george.m

Tapeworm
Speedway fans going in Aston Martins nowadays then Dear me, no. Nothing so common. I said "something smarter". Try next to the Facennas' Maybachs, Alan Dick's F40, or Stewart Dickson's Veyron.
damosuzuki
lol. NONE of these guys is taking money out of speedway. In fact the last time I saw Stewart Dickson he was driving the tractor and helping out on a practice day. Any money these guys have is through hard work in the businesses they started and built. Lioness
I leave my car in the streets opposite every week. Never had any trouble. To me you'd be daft to use the secure car park (which I think is next to the Ashfield bar ). Then you are very lucky. It's well known there have been a lot of problems for people parking around Ashfield. I took a basic Hyundai so every car in the area was better than it but still got broken into 4 times in one season, the reason I took a car park season ticket the last season under the old regime. From personal experience I think you'd be daft if you do leave your car in surrounding streets, not that I have to worry about that any more but I'd still hate to see others go through what a good number of us have in the past. The local window replacement company even sent me a Christmas card that season :/

I use the train now theres a sunday service so doesn't affect me but not conscious of seeing any broken windows/glass etc on my way to the station. Obviously sorry that its happened to you and to others
