Ozrik
I can remember reading a speedway mag called 5 - 1, back in the late 80s and 90s when it was available off the shelf in Australia. What happened to that?
Guest
I can remember reading a speedway mag called 5 - 1, back in the late 80s and 90s when it was available off the shelf in Australia. What happened to that? I don't know very much about Australian speedway magazines but there have been a few over the years. Currently there is Peter White's 'Australian Speedway World' which caters for solo speedway, sidecars, sprint cars and midget cars. A top class publication IMO. A list of British speedway magazines: https://www.speedwayfiction.co.uk/speedwaymagazines.html Over the years I have had professional links with Speedway Star, Speedway Mail, Speedway News, Speedway Gazette and Speedway World. Also Monthly Speedway Reporter, Monthly Speedway World, Vintage Speedway Magazine and Classic Speedway - none of which are featured on the website. Ozrik
Yes, i read Peter Whites publication every issue. Sadly it is the only printed speedway paper in this country with a fair coverage of the local bike scene. The magazine i referred to (5-1), was a British magazine, similar to Speedway Star. It has probably gone out of print the same as the ones you were involved with.
arnieg
5-1 was basically Speedway Star monthly, launched I think at about the same time as the Mail went monthly - presumably with the intention of driving the Mail out of the market. Guest compost
I think 5-1 lasted around 3 years (used to collect it but have since thrown the mags out)

Naturally I am sorry to see most of the magazines I was involved with go out of print - but I assure you I was not responsible for this happening! Red Panda
There was also a monthly one out in the late 70's or may have been early 80's called Speedway Supporter (I think) and it was in Newspaper format but only ran for about a year??????????
