Steve Shovlar
A bit tiny more than I saw last week. Mind you that pile of stone and metal fencing were there. At this rate the new stadium will be ready. By 2025. Edited December 3, 2016 by Steve Shovlar
Joe Beevers
Does Swindon really have a housing crisis? Maybe but it definently has a roads crisis.
A ORLOV
Maybe but it definently has a roads crisis. That is because the idiots in charge of the council build thousands of houses then only afterwards think now where shall we put the roads. They continually tell people they need to use public transport, but the majority of the public will not use it. Part of the parking plan for the new stadium is in the park and ride car park, which is just under 2 mile away, that was abandoned after it was at last shown that the councils park and ride system was a joke and costing far more than it took in. The second park and ride site Swindon has has been mostly taken over by a local company for staff parking and future p & r sites planned have now been abandoned, as it has finally sunk in that the way they ran them would not work.

steve roberts
Astonishing that I instigated this thread during November last year and we are no further forward despite all the shallow promises and excuses emanating from the present owners of the Abbey Stadium. Guest
That item is year old though.! My apologies to everyone. I saw the item on Facebook earlier - I have placed my previous comment under HIDE. Sadly, I anticipate my obvious error will stimulate 'the gang' into its usual spate of responses!! THE DEAN MACHINE
Been into Swindon speedway today , nothing been done and no work going on , there was a digger and a van in the far corner of car park and there is a mound of dirt over the back of car park other than that stadium is as it was at last meeting. Also noticed coming off carpark that the wasteland opposite the carpark entrance is also earmarked for houses, I've since been told that they have build a perimeter wall but you can't see it as it's behind the mound of dirt Edited January 3, 2017 by THE DEAN MACHINE

THE DEAN MACHINE
So still zero progress looks like that press bs in November was just that well it's got 28 weeks to be up and running and apart from some obscure wall right in the corner not a thing is happening but amazingly houses are springing up like daffodils, I hope I'm wrong and it all comes to fruition but some actually sign of something going on would be a start Edited January 6, 2017 by THE DEAN MACHINE
Gemini
Seems to me Speedway fans are very gullible and believe everything they are told.....or in Coventry's case bugger all because our promoters seem to have moved to Mars.

Where do any park and ride make a profit. Colchester P&R released figures today saying more people are using it but it lost more money than in the previous year For 2015 96.019 used the service compared to 2015 of 60,276.. They lost £306,240 last year which was £40,000 higher than the previous year Edited January 6, 2017 by mickthemuppet
Steve Shovlar
With this winter being so benign there has been nothing to hold up the construction of this new stadium. No snow, not much rain, no bitter winds. A bit of frost but that wouldn't stop construction from taking place. Since the end of last season Blunsdon has seen two or three guys, a portacabin and their joint offorts have seen some metal cages filled with pebbles. In Ten weeks. No groundworks, no marking out, nothing. Questions now need to be asked. The Advertiser should start an investigation into exactly is actually going on here. They are clearly completely taking the p*ss and the token three men in a portacabin to pretend something is going on just doesn't wash. Time for the Swindon fans to start shouting about this. Loudly. robert72
So no signs of a new stadium yet ? Could Coventry move to Leicester and Swindon move to Oxford as anything can happen in speedway.

Despite wanting to make some waves there is not a lot the fans can do as it is a greyhound stadium and Speedway just rents it off the dog people. Each time the directors or local MP are approached they come out with the same old story that things are progressing. I am not sure if any questioning of Mike happened at the fans quiz night a couple of weeks ago and what answers were given, but again it is obvious that the timescales given out continually by the Speedway owners have all been wrong.
