Swindon Stadium

Recommended Posts

Grass banks and a couple of portacabins at Blundon and Brandon will do very nicely it they mean speedway can continue at those two venues

Wish Cradley could have the same

Where are the plans for the actual stadium, or the artists impression?

Seen a plan showing where it will be but what will it look like? Hopefully not grass banks and a couple of portacabins.

Try this. http://www.speedwayplus.com/SwindonStadium.shtml

The most up to date plans are here:
If you go to Documents and then "MASTERPLAN - ALTERED SITE" or "DEVELOPMENT LOCATION PLAN", they are the best views of the new stadium.
As I said, you can see stands on the plan, but there is no detail of their construction, elevation or capacity, which I find a bit strange as this is supposed to be detailed plans.
Likewise, the stadium building looks very basic. It has been described as "modular" which suggests something like shipping containers bolted together.

October 2nd and still no sign of work being carried out on the new stadium 28 weeks until the end of April.Surely the stadium will not be up and running by then i just hope the Abbey is not BULLDOZED before the new stadium is up something not right here.

Mike Bowden claimed on Facebook that "Large scale electrical work going on today" - that was on Thursday

Have you been up to the stadium to check Sidney?

I have seen comments on social media saying the stadium has been marked out and electrical work is being done but I haven't been up there myself.

Doesn't matter if the stadium is basic to begin with, simply that it's built and there's enough room to improve it as time goes by.

Also important that there's room for a nice wide track - and it doesn't end up as another Leicester.

All the best

I would agree. All I've seen is a few comments on good old Facebook which may or may not be true.

I would expect there to be some sort of statement should work begin, but some people have made comments on electrical work and the stadium being marked out.

I don't know if that's true or not as I don't live in Swindon.

That was why I wondered if you'd actually been down and looked.

I would think one of the first things that will happen is when they get the people for the market and dogs to park in the carpark next to the road and the area to be worked on fenced off, anyway thanks for popping up and reporting.

With the weather that is forecasted for this winter, if it is true not a lot will get built anyway. They are forecasting three months of snow and very cold temperatures this winter.

They forecasted in that in the Daily Mail for the last 5 years .

I thought Rossitor said live on Sky that it was all systems go?

Some have been saying that for over a year not realising they have been treated like mushrooms, the current issue should not be too difficult to sort out but these problems keep cropping up.

Has planning permission actually been granted? On the council planning site the application still has a status of "Received" and on the minutes for the Planning Committee there is no mention of the stadium in the last few months, strange for such a high profile project.
