Swindon Stadium

The mystery to me on visits to the Abbey was why anyone bothers paying to get in  . The low wall at the car park end turns one & two seemed low enough to be easily hopped over (should one be so inclined) and there never seemed any staff on the other side, inside the stadium, to prevent such free-loading activities :nono: ....

Same here, though I wasn't there Monday, I just didn't have the bottle ;). Going slightly off topic, after paying (wasting ?) my entry at Reading's Smallmead, while they were still the Racers I should point out, I noticed many gained entry via the pit gate, walked straight through the pits - totally unchallenged - and so onto the terraces  ....

I am sure there used to be an elderly lady sitting in a camping seat making you sign in, when I used to be visiting with the Diamonds.

Used to be easy 40 years ago to hop in...not now walls much higher, stewards, and I'm 40 years older! Remember the 1968 gb-Sweden test, more queuing to climb in than pay...official attendance was 12000.

I do hope it's true, although a lot of obstacles seem to have been shifted remarkably quickly. Being a Bank Holiday I'm not really into detailed research right now.

Ultimately I want Swindon Speedway to have a secure future and whatever it takes is fine by me.

Talking about getting into the present place, I was queuing in the pass-holders shed to hand in my internet pre-printed ticket. I noticed a sticker on the wall showing various credit cards so I asked a sour-faced woman supervising the 'welcome' if they took credit cards. The wasp she seemed to be chewing rapidly turned into a hornet as her face took on anger as well as disgust, as if I'd just asked for the contents of the till.

21st century world, 19th century customer relations. Sponsors and the press were using that entrance...

This is the paperwork relating to the permission, but there does seem to be one or two unanswered questions.
