MattK
It's the letter to the agent (01-03-16) that you all should check out. Just another excuse for more delays.
Starman2006
Elections next week will lead to a new timetable for planning meetings, but it looks like the next one probably won't be till late May/early June Which year ?
RobMcCaffery
Just another excuse for more delays. So, the inadequate access, inadequate and unsafe parking, revisions to location of the new stadium without key alterations to the original plans are 'excuses'? Do you actually have any kind of grasp of what's going on? Edited May 17, 2016 by rmc

Do you actually have any kind of grasp of what's going on? I mean another excuse from GI for why there are delays. They have no intention of building the new stadium. It is merely a smokescreen in order to get planning permission to build houses on the land around the existing stadium.
greyhoundp
What people dont seem to grasp is GI do not need Speedway, they dont need a large Car Park for Greyhound racing, in fact they can make more money (lump sum) if they have a smaller Car Park (hence more houses) just for Greyhound racing, and eventually thats the way they will go, their past record proves it. The Planning Committee should have insisted that they build The new Stadium before they built the Houses. There is a way around this, they simply reduce the Stadium Capacity, then they wont need 200 more Car Parking spaces. When an application was made to build a greyhound stadium and houses at Wallyford, East Lothian, the condition was that a number of houses would be built followed by the stadium. Steels were put up for a stand then more houses were built.. No further work was done on the stadium but the houses have all been built. Too many people have too many memories of previous promises of new stadiums.

A canny move by TR if it turns out any new stadium will eventually have no facility for speedway!!! It'll be 50% of Sweet FA!! orion
I wonder what the new co-owners, Downers racing, Mike Bowden have to say, any news anywhere? When I spoke to mike he told me that unless he was 100 % sure that the stadium would be built he would have got involved in Swindon . AlanF
Probably a dumb question but why couldn't they just build the houses where they are proposing to build the stadium and just leave the stadium where it is?
A ORLOV
Probably a dumb question but why couldn't they just build the houses where they are proposing to build the stadium and just leave the stadium where it is? Because the new stadium is slightly smaller and as it is right against the road it takes up less room and allows the developer to build more houses. The stadium next to the road also acts as a noise barrier between the main road and the houses. Originally the idiots had a plan with the houses between the main road and the speedway stadium. It would have saved a lot of hassle and concern if they just left the stadium where it is and just demolished the stands and rebuilt them but this method may have caused a lot of problems while the build was going on.

damosuzuki
Maybe, looking on the bright side this will be an extremely painful business resulting in a new stadium belonging to Swindon Speedway on an industrial / brownfield site. The further Speedway gets away from Greyhounds and the type of people involved the better. I took the pessimistic view hoping that I'd be wrong (as usual) but there is now no way the new stadium will be up before the start of next season as others have already suggested.
