Why Is There So Much Secrecy About The Reserve Picks?.

Recommended Posts

I respect your opinion also Sidney, but to me when the chips are down its Newman who you can count on. In each of the last two years when it get to the play-offs Newman has come to the fore, leaving others in his wake. Howarth is a good prospect and has done well, Garrity good to watch but is so erratic and drops silly points, Auty because of injury hasn't done much for a couple of years , all good riders but still someway behind Newman's consistency. If I had to choose it would be Newman everytime.

Like you say, different people, different opinions.........

I really like Newman but it is quite hard to fathom out how much progress he has made? he has stagnated a bit also in the PL.These riders hopefully should push for a top five spot that is what the draft system should be about. Edited by sidney

You must be joking sidney. Here is a lad who has constantly improved, and this year reached number 1 at Plymouth ahead of Fisher. And you call that stagnating. :P

Fish had his worst season with injuries & what average did Kyle finish on as was hardly amongst the top boys.

I agree he has been quality in the play offs whereas Steve Worrall struggled with the pressure the last 2 seasons in them.

I think Kerr and Rose are the top 2 reserves, as they were in 2014.

Both coming back from injuries especially Kerr so doubts over both of them.

The answer is obvious. Poole can have the first pick before anybody else has a chance. They are of course allowed in the interest of Speedway to change their mind at at any time if it transpires they have chosen the wrong person. That is only fair..

He averaged 7.81 in the PL Auty averaged 8.51 and Garrity 8.50 so he upped his PL average but his EL average is false.Based on gaining confidence by winning races beating riders of lesser ability all i am saying is "Tsunami" i want to see him do it in the top five.

thats hardly any improvement...... could he of been under riding to keep his PL average low ,

Kyle gets paid by the point mate, he's hardly going to be doing that ..

Newmans average in 2015 6.84 in 2014 6.51. Hardly a big improvement either.

Kyles an odd one at PL level. He tends to have a year where he finds a point, a year consolidating then has another year finding a point and then the year after consolidates. He's a slow burner but then so was Ben Barker until he had a great year at Coventry and Stoke. So who knows?! Edited by SCB

Calling this a draft is so misleading. Never heard of a draft that has the same riders in multiple years and has clubs getting protected choices. Defeats the whole purpose.

I think they are way over complicating things. Just make every team have two Brits 23 and under and all foreigners can never drop below 6.00 (maybe even 7.00). Apply it to both leagues and there will be plenty of opportunities for British riders to progress.

the draft is not going to be a draft anymore now the riders arent protected at reserve

polish league reserves are still protected pawlicki was still riding at reserve last year ,

this season we will see promoters fudging the rules again when the brit reserves have a 'bad run of form'

they will end up being replaced by foreigners
