Neil H
News is out that Stoke's long-time sponsor Cyril Chell will no longer be associated with the Potters. Mr Chell has backed riders and the team since the old Premier League days of Paul Pickering et al.

Sings4Speedway
17-year-old Glasgow-based Lewis Millar completes the Stoke team. He had one NL outing for Buxton last year against King's Lynn and failed to score. Sorry but this doesn't look a great signing to me. He scored zero in the NL match and got a single point in a poor MDL following it. Definitely looks like a cheap signing rather than one to kick on? Feel sorry for Sam Ward who goes to Stoke every week and I think would beat Millar 9 times out of 10. There's several riders from last seasons MDL who are without a team who would do a stronger job (I think) but this smacks of signing a rider on the cheap? Heathen1984
Surely luke Harris is better option.
Sings4Speedway
Luke Harris, Adam Sheppard, Adam Portwood, Rob Watts, Jez Pestell, Cam Hoskins, Connor King and even Niall Strudwick look better options and that's just from a quick scan of the MDL riders list from last year. Im all for clubs sticking to budgets but I feel this will hurt Stoke points wise and probably hamper Millar's progress throwing him in too early? I don't know Ben Hopwood but I have spoken to him on a couple of occasions and found him to be polite and approachable. The statement from Stoke starts by saying, "....to ensure that all parties are aware of the exact position" and then goes on to say very little about anything! I have tried my best with Stoke this year, I have been to quite a few meetings and I even stirred myself to go to the "press day" just to give them a bit of support. But thinking that supporters don't need to be told even the bare bones of the issue is rather weak. I have no idea what the dispute between the club and Ben Hopwood might be but surely the shrinking band of supporters that attend Loomer Road deserve to be treated like grown-ups. I hope Buxton give them a sound thrashing on Saturday and if they do, I shall be on here crowing about it!
