Lakeside 2016

I think many of those options would be considered a big fat rabbit mate!

I wouldn't consider Ljung and Smolinski heatleaders either.

I like the optimism though and hope very much we can get a good signing.

Smolinski on a 7.5ish average having a won a GP in the last 2 season would have to be a heat leader. A crap one but still a heat leader :D

Cook must be desperate if we made a move for KK, it worries me that he would even consider having him back.

Who said anything about KK. Jon himself said he was talking to British based riders.

What Jon Cook said on Saturday was that before the last meeting of the season at Coventry, AJ Kim, Ed and Rich were all told gthat irrespective of the outcome of that match they would all be offered contracts for 2016, and all expressed the desire to return.

No information as to why Rich has not been announced, but it is possible that it is depedent on who he signs for in the PL. If he is back at Gladgow I suppose it depends to some extent whether they change their race night to Friday but the short answer is that I dont know why he hasnt been announced.

As to the possible two new riders I think it is a exaggerration to say he was targetting two. What he said at the last forum I think was that he was having talks with two riders. I did hear unofficially that one is not being pursued because he has an exagerrated idea of what he is worth so he is now knocking on the door of a Midlands club. Cant say who it is or the club but if it is true then the fans of that club are not going to be happy if the club sign him.

No idea who the other one is or whether any talks are continuing.

As far as Kennett is concerned Len silver is not around so no dodgy deals for 2016 He is a Rye House asset and unlike last years debacle he will be first choice at Rye House should their be any date clashes

I would much rather see us going back to being a red, white and blue team like the old days of Arena Essex, the idea of adopting West Ham style colours was a decent one but has not yielded anymore support because of it, we just lost a bit more of our original identity.

Having a team named after the stadium they raced in never really did it for me. New name new identity.

Would you become 'RedWhiteBlue73' ?

I think you'll find your original identity was to have been claret and sky blue until Essex Radio came in as sponsors prior to launch of the track and the colours were changed to theirs. I seem to remember seeing pictures from a practice session of the original race jackets. I'm sure Bryn Willams will have the facts tucked away somewhere.

The Claret tag is not a reference to speedway but the football team I follow.

Interesting to read that the original colours were going to be what we have now until Essex Radio became sponsors, never heard that before but does sound completely plausible.

Looking forward to seeing how this team looks once all signings are complete, disappointed to lose Bech but he seemed to lose his way in last season or so and he seemed to miss more meetings than most through other commitments.

Any news on Lewis Blackbird riding in 2016 ? I would be a tad worried about that situation..

Nope. A tad worrying yes , but on balance I would be amazed if Jon Cook signed him without a fairly firm guarantee he would ride. The big concern really is who the new second heatleader will be. At least we know it won't be Dave Watt back. So it looks like either Batch (unlikely) or someone completely new ( I presume and fervently hope that Dakota North isn't even in the frame) .
